Honestly, at this point, that just seems foolhardy to expect.
edit:
>Sources say the Chiefs tried to trade up in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft in order to select a receiver, but they couldn’t get into the 20s.
Interesting tidbit, but I call cap. This version of reporting didn’t start coming out until the WRs became a problem. Nate Taylor and Pete Sweeney both indicated they intended to trade up for DT Mazi Smith or a LT prospect.
And if compensation *did* actually stop them from trading into the top 20s for a WR, I guess I can curb my enthusiasm for that right now.
Just like that big ‘jump’ skyy was expected to make?
I’ll believe it when I see it
I’ve been expecting that since the opener
After hearing about how the Chiefs thought Toney could be a number 1 WR, I’m good if they pump the breaks a little on telling us what they think about their WR core…. We’re good on opinions there Chiefs. Pass.
I mean the bar is pretty fricking low right now

Fuckin show up to play then. I don’t believe any of this shit until they actually start producing catches.
That’s nice and everything but at this point in their careers you just have to accept that this is who they are. Dropping game winners is who MVS is. Watson is a guy who after 3+ years still doesn’t really understand the system and so he he runs the wrong routes and has alligator arms. And neither of them really excel at getting open unless it’s against the eagles.
I get that the organization wants to put out there that they have faith in them (again) but those two have very clearly shown that’s a good way to lose games. I think at this point you have to see what you have in the other guys because I don’t see how those two make it to camp next year.
Edit: It’s Watsons 2nd year, not his fourth.
Didn’t they also expect Toney to be a number one WR? Lol
My only remaining hope is that James comes back and looks as good as he did in preseason.
This translates directly to “They couldn’t be any worse”
