What a junk website

They have the 4th best record in the NBA and yet they couldnt even give us the hype to even move us to a single digit power ranking. Worse they list the Clippers at 12 (7-8), GS at 11 (8-9) and the Lakers at 4th (10-7) with the nuggets still sitting in 1st.

>Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are powering the Magic as a 6-foot-10 tandem capable of filling any responsibility asked of them, and behind them is a roster filled with talented players who star in their roles. One of the [biggest contributors so far is Jalen Suggs,](https://twitter.com/KevinOConnorNBA/status/1727447444374556881) who has slid into a starting spot following the rocky first two seasons of his career. Orlando has been one of the first month’s biggest surprises, and one of the [defining moments](https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&GameEventID=26&GameID=0022300038&Season=2023-24&flag=1&title=Schroder%20Bad%20Pass%20Turnover%20(P1.T2)) of its season came last week, just two minutes into an in-season tournament game against Toronto, when Suggs battled hard in the post against the much larger Pascal Siakam. An entry pass came in, and Suggs fought through Siakam’s frame to poke the ball away. The Magic picked it up, pushed the ball down the court, and soon hit a 3. But that wasn’t the moment. The moment came as the 3 swooshed through the net, when the camera panned to Suggs wildly pumping his fists, screaming at the crowd and to himself, going wild as if it were the closing moments of Game 7. It’s only November, but Suggs’s intensity is exactly what his young team needs. Good teams need tone setters, and yes, the Magic are good.

  1. That’s ok, the write up here was good. And the guys will have to prove it in the playoffs before the media gives our small market team respect.

  2. It’s been a month. We were the 24th best team last year given that we had the 6th pick.

One month in, we’re sitting at 14th. Heck of an achievement. Folks are still asking themselves whether this is real. Heck, we are asking ourselves this.

Patience while we enjoy this run.

  3. Once Markelle and Wendell are back, we’ll get more respect. We have legit 11 healthy guys on the roster (4 hurt or G league), and Chuma has been sent to the shadow realm so really 10.

  4. tbf, these rankings are explicitly “chances at winning the title” rankings and not just “how the teams are playing right now” rankings. I’m honestly fine with the Magic being at the top of that “they’ve been good, can they sustain it?” group.

  5. Truthfully who cares. All that matters is our record.

We don’t want to be champions of November, anyway. I haven’t forgotten Memphis swagging around during the regular season, only to get dumped in the playoffs.

The more we can fly under the radar, the better.

  6. We are at the top of the “How do we take the next step?” category and right behind the “In the Hunt” group. This seems reasonable to me.

This isn’t like the AP’s football rankings simply raising and lowering with every win or loss. This ranking is more of a collective strength of the team and how that projects this year. I sill think there are legitimate reasons to question if the Magic can maintain their defensive intensity and high-level play from Paolo, Franz and Suggs (I am optimistic).

A strong showing in the play-in tournament and we will shoot up this board.

  7. Cool. No matter the ranking, this squad still have a lot of work to do. It’s a great start no doubt, but we’re not even 1/4th of the way through this season. Let’s keep up the great work for now
