  1. While the knee jerk reaction is to say no one would want Matz, that’s not the case. A lefty starter, even one who isn’t amazing, who’s under contract for multiple seasons will have value. I’m saying saying we’re gonna get a Jasson Dominguez level prospect for him, but there will be suitors. If it makes you feel better about giving out money to Yamm, there will be takers.

  2. Matz is a strong number 5. Problem is we just signed our 4 and 5 pitchers. 2 years for 22 mil is not a bad deal for a lefty starting pitcher. There will be teams out there interested. Might have to give him away and not get something in return. But as long as we get another starter to be our 1 or 2 moving forward

  3. Matz for José Quintana straight up. Gives the Cardinals a better pitcher (albeit for 2024 only), gives the Mets a pitcher with another year of control in 2025, saves them $2 Million in 2024. Plus they’re not contending anyway. Throw in a lower end prospect if needed, but getting Quintana back to STL with Contreras seems like it not only help him be better, but improve the team.
