Zach Collins on those lobs to Wemby

  1. I know people have been still beating the drums about our guys missing Victor on lobs but I think the last few games they’ve been noticeably better at spotting him when he cuts.

It’s a double-edged sword to his uniqueness is that his crazy agility and speed for his size makes him a tremendous cutter, but you can tell his teammates are just not even looking for him to be making half the cuts he makes… Because it’s just not something that registers to them as a possibility. Guys his size moving that quick and making such unexpected cuts to the rim is such a novel and unusual thing.

And just like in this Zach quote When you are used to throwing lob and entry passes a certain way your entire life having to start throwing them in a way that would almost always send a signal to you as soon as it leaves your hands that it’s going to be a turnover or that it was off… Takes a while for that. Subconscious part of the athlete brain to register that those passes are okay

I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of the year. Victor’s scoring consistently on three to four lobs a game. The guys are getting there. None of them are necessarily tremendous Passers but you can tell they’re trying to figure it out and figure out there extremely unique teammate
