Why is no one talking about this?

Ive seen so many people talking about how the refs were so clearly one sided for the jags. But what about this play right here?? A very obvious missed holding call on the defense which leads to an interception for the texans. Are all missed calls/bad calls equal? On one hand the jags were driving down the field lets just say they get 15 more yards and get stopped, kick a field goal. On the other hand, this gave the texans lots of momentum and led to a touchdown. Thats a 10 point swing. All the bad calls for the jags happened after this play maybe the refs were trying to even it out? Idk, all i know is that HOUSTON WE GOT A PROBLEM, JAGS 8-3 TREVORS THE PRINCE THAT WAS PROMISED AND WE GOIN TO THE SB

  1. I mean, flags missed on both sides all game. If both fanbases are just honest with themselves, the officiating was just bad

  2. It was talked about a lot in the /r/NFL gamethread, and also by the commentators during the game.

  3. Amazing how quickly Houston fans COMPLETELY forgot about this and turned to, “tHe ReFs WaNtEd JaX tO wIn!”.

  4. The texans aren’t talking about it because it doesn’t fit their narrative, we aren’t talking about it because we aren’t bitches

  5. The game became annoying after this. It’s a major fuck up by the refs that shouldn’t ever happen.

  6. What about the running back giving up on the play but jumps 2 yards ahead , like he should have been down when he starts going to the ground

  7. 100% think that Dougy P bitched to the refs so hard, he got into their heads. They were calling scared after that one lol!😂

  8. Set up a cascade of bad calls and worse makeup calls from yet another crap officiating crew. The more tech they have, the more they act like pro wrestling referees.

  9. However a Jags or Texans fan views the reffing in the game, that was the moment that it went off the rails.

After that missed call it was just a mess of misjudgment the rest of the way no matter how you slice it.

  10. it was a terribly officiated game – it did not cost the texans a win, but any fan of football has a right to expect better

  11. Truth be told, the commentators did talk about it quite a bit. Like, how could they miss that, it was an obvious PI etc

  12. This was a very badly officiated game. There’s no way to say if the result was changed due to the officiating but it was just painful to watch.

The Texans gave away many opportunities to win the game despite the bad officiating. The deep throws on 3rd and 4th down weren’t very good calls and CJ probably should have ran for a few extra yards on the play before the final field goal. Officiating had nothing to do with those mistakes.

GG’s, FTC, and good luck the rest of the season.

  13. Not sure. I mean, I spent the morning watching Get Up (while working) and while they claim to discuss the Jaguars Texans game after break, they never did😕

  14. Most people didn’t watch the game in its entirety or are manipulating what really happened. Just give it a week or two. Everyone will forget about “the refs” once the new controversy happens

  15. That was a bad call, and you can always complain about holding calls missed in pass protection, but I didn’t see a lot wrong with the rest of the officiating. The stuff the TV guys were complaining about were calls I thought were perfectly reasonable, if not as required as the one in the clip.

The next ‘worst’ ref mistake I saw was a deep ball Stroud threw that landed 20 20+ yards behind all the receivers. And I only call that a mistake because the refs have been blowing my mind by calling those types of differing choices on option routes intentional grounding this year.

  16. Because we won.

But it’s not like it isn’t being talked about at all. Every game review podcast/talk show I’ve seen has mentioned it (PFF, PFT, Eisen, etc.).

It’s just not THE story since we won.

The officiating was terrible for both sides. That’s what the story should be. But even then, both teams would have had plays they missed that are bigger than the officiating.

For Houston, the 3rd and 4th downs on short yardage were terrible calls. Taking sacks at the end was bad. Etc.

For the Jags, the Ridley drop and the missed points at the end of the half would have haunted us if we had lost.

  17. Officials knew they botched this call and they gave the Jags the PI calls as a make-up. They can deny all they want that there’s no such thing as makeup calls but there are, theres never a definitive way to balance things but leading into this game the Jags had drawn an NFL high PI calls so that’s already part of the narrative

  18. It’s pissing me off how everyone forgot about this, officiating was dogshit on both sides and yet Houston is somehow ignoring this that gave them a fucking td?

  19. We’re never going to have good officiating. You just gotta accept that the only way they make up for one bad call is by giving another bad call to the other team.

    It is what it is.

  20. My message in posting this was that ive seen so many complainers about how bad the refs were favoring the jags but they mustve not seen this play. The refs were bad on both sides, not just the for the texans. It seemed like the refs were tryna make up for this obvious missed call which may have started the downward spiral of the reffing. And im not asking why us jags fans arent talking about it, but about all the complainers not talking about it. Even the non-biased fans that arent cheering for either team

  21. I spent the entire time yelling at the tv about all of the missed holding calls on the Texans O-Line. Wife and dogs eventually got on board haha

  22. I am watching the coverage today and we getting our flowers. I have not heard NFL Analysts bitching about the penalties. That’s fans.

  23. We not talking about it because the refs gave us calls that saved our drive 2 or 3 times the very next drive.

The refs were dog shit on both sides yesterday. But the majority of the calls were in our favor so that was a blatantly obvious missed call, but they made up for it plenty after so it is what it is.

    Ebb n Flow.

We got the dub so no real need to talk about it

  24. Texans fan here, 100% agree the scales weren’t tipped anywhere. The refs just sucked ass. Makes me mad too because it robbed both teams of momentum regularly. I wanted to see a shootout with our shiny new qb’s.

  25. Why? Because it doesn’t fit the national narrative that Lawrence is trash and Stroud is Brady, Montana and Marino all rolled up in one glorious qb. I hate national pundits and their collective talking points.

  26. I think you’re correct that there were some make up calls after this. Refs realized they blew it and how massive their mistake was, so they weren’t letting the Texans DB’s get away with anything after that.

  27. It probably should have been a flag, but Engram did kind of feign like it was a bubble screen and he had his arms outstretched to initiate a block. I think muscle memory in a defender is to keep the blocker off of you. The defender obviously realized after the fact, which is why I would personally lean towards a flag, but it is close.

Whatever, fuck it, top of the division.

  28. People are talking about it.

Current Texans def remind me of 2018 Jags. When THE defense started to fall apart .

I have zero issue with any PI and holding calls on Texans, they got away with a lot more than was called and the int here is a potential 14 point swing – Jags were *driving* at this point.

ETA; The illegal shift was dodge and the catch ruling unfortunate on a close call. They’re not going to pull up Zebra on that because the rules tell them to signal incomplete on questionable catches.

  29. Well because the refs wanted us to win and in order to do so they had to not call that to hide it shhhhhhh

  30. This was referenced on the Around the NFL podcast and the FMIA article on PFT. People are talking about it.

  31. If we’re being honest we got two makeup PI’s. Both teams scored and we were back to us being up.
