  1. For a 4 win team basically out of the playoff picture, this is going to be a fascinating final 5 games for us. If Carolina gifts us the first pick, it will probably be one of the more heated QB debates Chicago has had which is saying something.

    – Fields (one cheap year left) + MHJ + picks Chicago may get for moving back a spot or 2 (probably a future first or 24 2nd).

    – Maye or Williams (rookie deal) + picks we get for fields (like Darnold type trade).

Not sure yesterday moved the needle much either way which probably says something in itself

  2. He had 2 TOs, 0 TDs, and averaged like 2 yards per throw.

That’s fine for a rookie, not a 3rd year QB.

  3. I’m not for or against fields but what are these posts? How can you come away from last night and think “growth” for anything that offense did out there. Truly a terrible offensive performance.

  4. Can we stop using elite and generational when it comes to Caleb Williams or Drake Maye? Caleb has regressed badly this year in the same system. And his overall character and makeup is on trial for me, the pouting and finger pointing at teammates is unacceptable plays like Fields already without the size or freakish speed. Maye has size and arm with throws from the pocket and is sneaky athletic but will the O-line ever allow that with consistency?

Maybe we use this first overall pick from Carolina w/ a 2nd round and Fields bundled and trade for another teams already-proven franchise QB.

All this is contingent on getting rid of Eberf-lose and Getsy to me though.

  5. Blame him for the fumbles sure but I’m not sure what this braindead sub wants him to do when like 10 screens are called. He didn’t have the greatest showing but he showed up when it mattered. It’s fair to call me an apologist but y’all never acknowledge anything the kid does right like how he played vs Detroit. He still has 5 games left to audition so I’m reserving my final judgment till then

  6. I still say keep him and draft for our other needs, of which there are many. (And overhaul the coaching staff, of course.)

  7. He executed the game plan and did what he could with it, sometimes creating something out of nothing. Certainly not a performance to write home about, but for everyone complaining about him not getting the ball out in time when facing pressure, yeah it is growth. The fumbles are concerning too, both can be true.

  8. But still can’t hold onto the goddamn ball. I like Fields. I loved when they drafted him but he’s an absolute fumbling machine. If he can’t hold onto the ball during the rest of the season then it’s time to move on. Personally I hope he does get it taken care of and sticks around so the Bears can pickup Marvin Harrison Jr and pair him with DJ Moore. There would really be no excuses then with that pairing

  9. I really think drafting QBs is a crapshoot. It depends on so much more than just raw talent. It takes good development staff, coaching, good surrounding talent, room to make mistakes. Sure the player has to have arm talent, charisma, confidence. But the confidence piece is nebulous and a bad organization can ruin that part of it before the kid has a chance to really grow. I don’t trust drafting a new QB will make a big change for the org. I think you can draft a QB every year at every draft position. The GOAT was a 6th rounder. And Bryce Young went first and looks like crap.

Imo, run it back with Fields, and draft MHJ and an Olinemen. Fields has shown enough to play out the last year. If it doesn’t work, you put the next guy in a fantastic position.

  10. I 1000000000% blame the play calling more than JF1. Even his 2 fumbles, Getsy put him in shit situations with b.s screen passes that got blown up and resulted in JF1 Trying to do too much to win the game.

I do like how the line did a much better job this time around against the blitzes, but still has a lot more improvements.

  11. I’m a Fields stan admittedly, but after his second fumble was the first time I truly thought to myself, “maybe Fields isn’t the guy”.

That said, he lead us on a game winning drive, something he’s had many opportunities to do in the past and failed at. I honestly don’t even know what his other 2 GWDs are. So I’m glad to see him finally achieve that, and to me it carries enough wait that I’m fully aboard the Fields Stan train again
