Yankees and Pads are in fact seriously discussing a Soto trade. Pads want big league ready pitching so, like Clarke Schmidt. Yankees would rather part with Chase Hampton over Drew Thorpe in addition. They are unwilling to include Volpe or Dominguez.
Team is also staying in touch with Belli’s people but nothing is close.
Yes to Soto. Hard pass on Bellinger.
Schmidt plus one of Thorpe or Hampton has been my expectation the whole time. Padres get two rotation spots filled long term and salary relief
I grew to like Schmidt throughout the year but we’re talking about Juan Soto here so give up who you can.

Trade high on Schmidt. He just pitched his career year.
Maybe include Gil in the deal. He’s out of options, very talented arm but issues with roster construction there.
Let’s hope the Yanks are using Bellinger as leverage that they have other options besides Soto only
