  1. If the Mets don’t consider themselves to be out at this point, then they must be on the shortlist, because Ohtani is meeting with teams this weekend in person in LA. We’re still in it. At the very least, Nez Balelo has us hanging around to drive up the bidding.

  2. Yeah these are great players, but I’m butt hurt from the Aaron Rodgers debacle on my other team.

Let’s focus on building a core of good guys and not hope for one grand slam solve it all guy

  3. I think it’s possible if not likely we’re going to try with Ohtani until that door shuts for good.

But any MLB org that would actually be in on Ohtani is smart enough to have an offseason script for the likelihood they DONT land him. I’m confident Stearns definitely has a plan to execute absent a splash.

Soto I never felt as though we were going to trade for. He was always gonna be just media buzz imo because there’s no reason to trade for him now when he’s most likely to be a FA next year. Just get him for money. It would probably take a violently irresponsible overpay to get him to sign an extension if he’s traded for.

  4. Ohtani is a luxury, they really just need a Yamamoto/Erod/Montgomery type another starter and a bullpen. Still think they are going to try and make a late push for him tho lol

  5. I would move on from Ohtani and make my decision on Soto based on whether we land Yamamoto or not

  6. So now basically it’s Yamamoto or we’re fucked.

Ain’t no goddamn way we’re getting Snell & Montgomery. It’s better to offer Ohtani and see if he’s even interested than not doing it all & see if Soto can agree to an extension immediately after signing.

  7. Idk why anyone is trying to sign Ohtani when that has lead to a potentially 600 mil $ deal. I also have no idea why any team would take the Padres serious when they think Michael King and 6 prospects is reasonable 😂 hearing the news that the mets have backed out is the best news of the off-season so far.

  8. I think we’ll officially know where we stand with Ohtani when Stearns meets the media Sunday night in Nashville.

(Unless he’s in Cali meeting Ohtani 😏)
