Passan: Ohtani pursuit down to four frontrunners

I suspect this is slightly more accurate than Heyman. [Passan says](https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/39006296/mlb-winter-meetings-passan-preview-free-agency-trade-rumors-shohei-ohtani-juan-soto) it’s Dodgers, Cubs, Jays, and … yes, the Angels in the final four from what he hears, and that the Rangers, Mets, and Red Sox are pivoting. If you hit ESPN+ paywall, [this Tweet](https://twitter.com/BeyondTheHalo/status/1730595165063283124) summarizes on teams.

  1. Not sure how to feel since it means more Vladdy lazy defense at 1B, but hey, it’s Ohtani.

Why am I more worried if the Jays actually sign him?

  2. Weird. Another past was just made saying two lol. Wish he’d hurry up and sign to end all of this.

  3. Ohtani wanted to sign an extension with the angels, it was his agent making him test free agency

  4. Since Ohtani requested confidentiality from pursuing teams, I assume any team mentioned in these types of articles have no chance of signing him. GOMS.

  5. Someone may come in and offer something stupid now and just make it finalized. Or all teams are tapped out and he just has to choose what team makes the most sense for him.

  6. Ohtani linking up with Seiya in Chicago would be pretty cool, from a Carp fan perspective.
