Blue Jackets Key Decisions Have Shattered Trust With Fanbase

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the team exactly

  1. Excellent article.

The way I see it, Jarmo and the FO thought they could retool the roster after Panarin and Bob left. That was derailed by the PLD debacle which broke Jarmo’s brain. He got a good haul for PLD and Laine is a better player on paper, but he kept operating as if this team had a good top-6 center to build around rather than a great scoring winger that’s ultimately just a complementary piece on a contender.

The biggest failure of this front office since 2019 is that it hasn’t been honest with itself and, most importantly, the fanbase. They’ve been blowing smoke up our ass for years now and it’s because they have been delusional about where the team is at. The Babcock hiring is a result of that delusion which has fucked over everyone, Vincent especially.

I still view Jarmo as a generally competent man, with the Babcock hiring being his only serious failure, but it’s time to get a fresh set of eyes in the FO. He has acquired some good core pieces to build around since 2019 but I no longer trust him to pull everything together.

  2. On paper, the roster is decent. Players are underperforming, effort issues, finishing games, problems that have plagued the franchise for years. In their entire existence, the CBJ has never had a true superstar… hold your “but Nash” responses. In JarMoe we… trust?

  3. Couldn’t agree more Mark, it’s time for a drastic change. The fanbase deserves so much more. What better time than with some really highly touted young guns and assets?

One series win in a decade is not competence!

  4. When it was learned that tortz wanted to leave but was talked into staying, was when the JK bus ride should have been over. Since that season we’ve had 2 1/4 miserable seasons. All that was done was re arranged the furniture. It still has that nasty musky smelling shag carpet, and the hideous outdated wallpaper. And here we are with what ultimately seems like lame duck management, but still has full ability to make changes to the team. The article was pretty much spot on

  5. Maybe the Crew owners could cast about for wealthy friends with an enthusiasm for hockey. Then have them buy the whole thing.

  6. To me this organization is just hamstrung by a GM scrambling for his job and a first year head coach trying to get his feet under him. I’m not prepared to say Pazzy is a bad coach and his system is bad just yet but Jarmo’s moves this offseason are so clearly in his best interest and not the interest of the team that we are left in purgatory. I believe a true rebuild is long overdue and that starts with the front office. If Pazzy is collateral damage, I wish him the best.

  7. Man I really hope you guys can turn it around, Fantili really seems like a great player in the making. I know all to well of shitty management ruining a solid foundation for a sports team.

  8. Time for “Fire Jarmo” chants at the game. Enough is enough. Someone else needs to be leading this rebuild and needs a runway to the TDL.

  9. The Blue Jackets haven’t jived since they cleaned house a few seasons ago when they traded away Foligno, Atkinson, Bjorkstrand and the like.

My interest in the team has dwindled since then too. Don’t get me wrong, CBJ are my #1, but the passion just hasn’t been the same.
