[Passan] The New York Yankees have acquired superstar outfielder Juan Soto in a trade from the San Diego Padres, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done. And the Yankees now get to pair Soto with Aaron Judge in the outfield and will feature two of the best hitters in baseball.

It’s over, Passan has said it ๐Ÿ˜“. Regardless of its a 1 year rental or whatever, the thought of facing Soto-Judge in the division sucks. Yankees are absolutely harder to beat in 2024 with Soto over King.

  1. Iโ€™m just glad this is done. Hated all the on-off talk about it. Seems like he was always going to be a Yankee anyways.

  2. my copium is telling me ohtani hasnt signed yet because he seriously wants to go to toronto but its a big decision for him because he has to move countries. my doomerism is telling me weโ€™re being used as leverage. its in gods hands now all we can do is pray

  3. The Yankees will still find a way to be mediocre by July and their fans will be even more savage toward the players.

  4. That Soto/Judge combo is going to be a fucking problem. Hope we can counter with Ohtani in short order

  5. I fucking hate this move ( for us). I mean we still dont know all the details but Im still perplexed as to what is the rush for SD? Are they doing the yankees a favour? What is so amazing about king as a centerpiece? More teams would have been interested after ohtani makes up his mind.

  6. I’m glad the schedule is such that we no longer play an inordinate amount of games against division rivals.

  7. I’m still surprised the Padres didn’t wait a week for Ohtani to sign so they’d get more teams in on the bidding. Maybe they just liked the Yankees package and no one else had indicated theyd meet it though.

Hopefully Yamamoto goes to the NL.

  8. Baseball is better when the Yankees are good. Bring it on, and may god have mercy on our souls.

  9. Am I just coping or does it feel like Soto will have less of an impact against us than King, it feels like that dude went 7 shutout against us once a series.

  10. Yankees still canโ€™t defend with this lineup. The outfield is better with Verdugo, but putting Judge in CF might be an issue for them.

  11. If the Jays miss out on Ohtani it’ll be a disaster off season no matter what for the Jays. After Othani and Soto, the available players takes a deep nose dive.

If the Jays run back a team built around Bo and Vlad, back filled with guys on one year deals, hoping for “internal improvement” from Vlad, Kirk and Springer I’m not going to a single game, I’m cancelling my Sportsnet Now subscription and boycotting everything Rogers.

  12. Hereโ€™s hoping Soto sucks next year, Yankees suck next year and they give up prospects for him to only sign long term elsewhere

  13. King was looking like a beast in September. They are really banking on Rodon rebounding and Cortes to not have had a one and done year. So far without being able to do his dumb rocking Cortes has looked terrible.
