I knew I liked Greg

  1. Either heโ€™s coming to Toronto and these are the start of our halcyon days, or heโ€™s going to go somewhere else and thereโ€™s a good chance this is the closest we ever get to him. Now would be an excellent time to take a moment to take it all in and appreciate it.

  2. Iโ€™m going to get my ass kicked. Iโ€™m at pub trivia and I canโ€™t stop refreshing my phone. I want news. Not Gregโ€™s pie chart

  3. i was driving this morning thinking ‘okay man he spent most of his 20’s in LA, dodgers are a bit more competitive, his doctors are in LA, i’d love it if he’s here but i’m not sure. If I was him i’d probably go dodgers too tbh”

and then i watched this video and now i’m back to “BROHEI BROTANI BROS HE’S COMING TO TORONTO AND ITS NOT TORONTO JAPAN BABY”

  4. I’ve seen my fair share of charts in my 45 years, and folks, this is one of the nicer charts I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.

  5. Steve Philips spiel about what Ohtani can do for Rogers and what Rogers can do for Ohtani is an underdiscussed aspect here.

And I love the point about “they met in Dunedin so obviously the weather is a factor” when

    1. The baseball season is during the summer and

    2. There would be no point meeting in Toronto when Rogers Centre is in the middle of a $300 million renovation and its just a giant construction zone

I like watching some of the copium even some journalists/analysts are huffing because Ohtani is even considering coming to Toronto.

  6. Yes this chart is accurate and I support it. ^(It supports my internal narrative and the narrative of the fanbase and I really want him to sign with the Blue Jays.)

EDIT: Also why do so many sports pundits think of Canada as some cold barren wasteland where it’s freezing cold every day and we only have one horse towns. It’s just so ignorant and annoying.

Toronto is damn near the same as New York, Detroit and Chicago climate-wise.

  7. I have great hopes and every morning I wake up I check the news, hoping for awesomeness.

Mr. Ohtani, if you’re reading this, Jays fans would love to see you playing for our team!

  8. My MIL asked my husband to tell me to add more things to the Christmas wishlist. (I bought everything I need myself – I canโ€™t wait until Christmas!). Anyway I jokingly said an Ohtani jersey and my husband said his mom was like ARE WE CLOSE YET? She doesnโ€™t go online so sheโ€™s always behind on this stuff.

Thatโ€™s my story. I did tell him Iโ€™ll take an Amazon gift card I guess.

  9. I’m gonna be outrageous here and add another 5% to the Jays. My basis is this. American broadcasters in all sports shit on Canadian teams. Until the last bucket in the Raptors championship, they were doubted.

I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here, but if the Jays are ahead, I do believe the gap is greater than listed on the chart.
