  1. The best thing to me about Purdy is you can tell how hard he works and practices when he goes out on game day and makes throws like these. Honestly it’s the same for most of our roster with how the receivers block and how stifling the defense is.

  2. People use yac against him but I don’t get it. Hitting someone in stride so they can continue to run is accuracy and anticipation. Whatever I’m actually loving every second of the hate. This might be the most fun I’ve had as a niner fan. Looking back I was always nervous with Jimmy. Just waiting for that moment that we became familiar with.

  3. This shot is on par with CMC running down the sideline against the rams and jawing at Witherspoon

  4. When I saw that live on tv, I initially thought Purdy was either throwing the ball away or had overthrown CMC. The camera didn’t even show anyone in the frame. Then suddenly CMC snatched it out of the air. That was simply an elite throw.

  5. Some people say that linebacker is still roaming the streets of Philadelphia, asking if anyone has seen Christian McCaffrey.

  6. this is where purdy’s high level of making anticipatory throws, ability to read the field, and process all that in 1-2 seconds after the snap makes up for his lack of top shelf arm strength

that & his unappreciated and overlooked feel in and out of the pocket with underrated athleticism where he can hurt you with his legs either as a runner or extending plays to make a throw down the field

i think if you ask shanahan he’d much rather have his QB have those 3 traits being used at an elite level which are more mental and harder to see when evaluating QB than for his QB having a cannon for an arm & or the ability to run a 4.4-4.5 40 time which is more physical and you can see it with your eyes during a random workout and which draws in and fools a lot of teams and fans in drafting these QB who do well physically

case in point in 2021 so many in the media and a good amount of NFL fans including 49ers fans from following social media … they went crazy over both wilson’s and field’s pro day workouts where they made some amazing throws both in the pocket and especially on the move

but when the lights are on and they face actual pro level competition instead of throwing against air in these private workouts in front of scouts and NFL evaluators … they fail big time because mentally they just don’t have what it takes to be a successful NFL QB

it’s things like this that purdy does consistently at a high level compared to most NFL QBs that aren’t going to be part of a game long, week long, or season long highlight reel that will turn his critics into believers

  7. I saw some bullshit talk today about how he throws passes that his receivers have to work to correct. That’s bullshit though! That throw floated into CMCs arms. Shit was effortless.

  8. The trust in the offense and the trust he has in his receivers is beyond his years. Almost unreal.

  9. Purdy’s comparison with current QBs. Purdy’s field vision is the same as Mahomes, accuracy like Tua, throwing touch like Burrow, Football IQ like Brady, and super confident like Montana. And, he works on a farm just like Superman.

  10. *Noodle-armed talentless hack who’s fallen arse first into a stacked team and been the benficiary of the Shanahan system. Anyone could do it…*

  11. he knew the blitz was coming and he had a favorable coverage so he sent CMC in motion. defense thinks it’s a decoy and do not alter the blitz. as soon as CMC turns upfield untouched, purdy begins the throwing motion even with CMC doing a waggle and not even going 100% upfield. this is amazing the more times you look at it.

  12. What’s really crazy is how badly the linebacker bit. Dude literally left the frame

  13. I marveled at that play when it happened. He was winding up to throw when CMC was still on his out cut.

  14. If you know you know.

JT references aside, the ability for a rb to run that rail route and catch the ball over his shoulder makes me feel guilty.

  15. I’m so glad you posted this … pundits who saw this called it an “easy throw” 🤦‍♂️
Are you kidding me right now? Seriously? This throw was sick… one of my fav throws of the night. DEF had no answer
