  1. He also hinted that Kenny might be active. Obviously, practice and participation will be their guide.

  2. 3rd QB of the season. Fired OC. O-line shuffling. More changes this season than I can remember us doing for a long time. Hopefully, that is reflective of the degree of change the team understands is necessary in the off-season.

  3. Good. We’ve seen what Mitch has left in the tank might as well see what Masons got now. There isn’t really any consequence to this decision because it’s not gonna be any worse. I’ve always liked Mason and I’m excited he’s gonna get at least one more game to try and show something, at least so he can get another backup deal somewhere

  4. Gentlemen, our season has been saved. All we need now is a good place to watch the playoffs.

  5. I like Mason. He’s not great at playing football, but I like him. I feel like he has heart and believes in himself, which might be the best quality for a 3rd string QB to have

  6. Mitch is a below replacement level QB. Rudolph has played replacement level in the past. Seems like no brainer.

  7. Love Mason but the problem is you’re starting someone whose been riding the bench for a very long time and has got zero reps with this first team offense since Ben was here.

  8. Please open up the playbook.

No sense in playing conservative now. Throw downfield a few times a quarter.

  9. It’s amazing how ignorant this coaching staff is. We all called for Canada to be fired, only for it to be months late. We called for Broderick to start, took four games. We called for Porter Jr to start and that took several games. We all called for Mason over Mitch and after 3 losses they decide to do it.

  10. When Mayfield was let go I told people they should sign him. But noooooo. Could be a completely different team now.

  11. Obviously not great the team is in a spot where they need to start Mason, but I’m happy for him personally and I hope his patience pays off for him.

  12. I don’t expect much from mason, but at least it won’t be miserable to watch the game. Mitch is like an awful movie that you’re forced to keep watching and you know the plot already.

I actually think Kenny’s gonna be ready to go. If we lose this game he’s gonna have 10 months to rehab anyway.

  13. Can’t wait for everyone to just copy and paste the same shit they’ve been writing about Kenny and Mitch after Mason struggles next week

  14. Did Tomlin really make this decision because Mitch sucked so bad or did he do it just for the holiday punch lines lol

  15. Best thing that could happen would be Mason looking good; it’s clear that Trubisky is getting cut this offseason. Mason isn’t under contract. The team will absolutely have to either draft another QB to be the #2 (and compete with KP) or they will have to sign an actual capable backup who can be the safety net if KP continues to regress. My guess is, they don’t intend to draft a QB in the first 3 rounds to compete with KP, so they are going to have to go the veteran route. If Mason actually plays competently in the next 1-2 weeks, it would be very beneficial to the Steelers. He would be easy to re-sign, and would 100% want to re-sign here knowing KP will be on the hotseat going into next season.

Then you would have the QB room going into next season:

    1. KP
    2. Mason
    3. Late round draft pick

  16. Probably won’t be much better but man they might as well try it. It doesn’t hurt anything when the alternative is Trubisky.

  17. Would it be even more Steelers for us to finish 10-7 with Rudolph and Kenny’s return after blowing what ‘should’ have been 2 of the easiest games of our schedule in this 3 game skid?

Because I feel like it could happen just to spite all of us. NFL script writers love Tomlin’s record.

  18. If the Steelers are serious about moving forward with Kenny they should shut him down and let him watch and get healthy the rest of the season. If Kenny is their guy then the O-line should be your first concern. If Kenny is your guy you need to bring in the best OC money can buy. If Kenny is your guy then you need to hire the best QB coach money can buy. And finally if Kenny is your guy you better get the best backup money can buy.

  19. Not our year, boys. I think this will be a wake up call for the org. Big changes coming, Kahn and Weidl will make it happen.

  20. It’s just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point. The cynical side of me sees this as Tomlin making changes to take the media and fan spotlight off of his own personal shortcomings and responsibility for the current state of the Steelers.

  21. To me, Rudolph is the scarecrow from the wizard of Oz but with an arm. Dude has no brain but he can chuck the pigskin. This is to say my expectations are no higher than they were with Mitch, borderline nonexistent.

  22. This is in the ‘throw shit at a wall and see what sticks’ form of coaching.

To be fair, I’d start Mason as well at this point.

  23. Mitch probably should’nt ever be on a roster again. You want a back up to come in, run the offense and not make mistakes. While I don’t think the steelers have an offense to run, he lacks fundementals and makes too many mistakes.

  24. I have no hopes for this to go positively. Which means we’re about to win 53-2 (Mitch comes in at the end and accidentally steps out of bounds in the endzone)

  25. I’m honestly only interested in this because I’m hoping for a “Christmas Magic” miracle meme game and Rudolph saving the team on Christmas Eve.

    ^^^then ^^^again ^^^expecting ^^^this ^^^game ^^^to ^^^be ^^^any ^^^different ^^^is ^^^the ^^^definition ^^^of ^^^insanity

  26. Mitch’s career trajectory:
2nd pick overall, drafted over Mahomes
Makes the playoffs and wins the NVP
    Benched for Mason Rudolph

  27. This sub has just separated like a Red Sea mosh pit, and when the Stillers play, we are all going to run at one another screaming and come together absolutely thrashing.
