  1. Torts also didn’t get hired five minutes before camp started because a different coach had a locker room scandal.

  2. Torts is a great coach with reliable success in the first few years. His style has a shelf life though. I would be flabbergasted if he is doing the same thing with them in 5 years.

  3. He also coached that team last year.

I’d also venture that we’d have quite a few more wins with Hart in the net.

  4. Two things can be true: 1) Torts is awesome 2) Torts’ style has a shelf-life.

I think when he left it was just about time for him to get going. But yeah, best coach we ever had and it’s not even all that close.

  5. Torts is known to be able to squeeze blood from a stone.

Torts also didn’t have a mere five minutes to prepare the season with

This is an apples to oranges comparison and is asinine

  6. Torts is a coach who can turn almost any team in any situation into a playoff team. He knows how to get the best of his players for a few seasons to try and make a cup run.

The debate right now is that this isn’t good for Philadelphia, they’re in a situation where they need a full-on rebuild and draft picks in the next 3-4 years, but instead they’re gonna get the next 3-4 years of playoff appearances because that’s what Torts does. He wins you games.

If Philly’s goal was a rebuild, this is an absolute disaster. But to be fair, their GM said they’re gonna try and compete this year and it’s not a tank, and he’s backed it up.

  7. Oh dude I’m still pissed we got rid of him. I remember being absolutely ecstatic when we signed him initially.

I’m of the belief that these young guys on the team need to have a dude that’s going to go off in the locker room and tell them what needs to be done.

Dude straight up knows how to light of fire under his players, and when I heard he signed with Philly I knew that was going to be an incredible fit for both of them.

    Because unlike Dubois, they’ll listen.

  8. It’s sad how this fan base still pines for a coach who won a single playoff series in his tenure. Just because that is the high point of the franchise does not mean that that is where you should set your goals!

The fact of the matter is that he is a big reason we are where we are now. He wanted out and lost the room, but Jarmo convinced him to stay and that was a mistake that has only been compounded with the Larsen, Babcock, and Vincent hirings.

  9. We have a bunch of young players who cancelled a cup-winning coach. Babcock. Patients run the asylum.
