  1. Anything less than 4/$100m would be a huge win for us. Flexibility will be better once Ben is off the books

  2. Claxton has been disappointing this year. About the same this year on offense which is fine but I feel like his defensive impact is not there sometimes. I know we’re playing drop but it’s disappointing to see

  3. Definitely want to see how this season finishes. 12, 9, and 2.5 blocks is solid. See where his ft% finishes at. Staying healthy as well. Curious on what other teams would be seriously interested in him

  4. That would be a heartbreaking departure. Nets haven’t really lost a guy in Free Agency that I really cared about in a while, always just traded away. Spence a few years ago but obv he’s back

  5. Despite the fact that he hasn’t taken another huge leap on defense, would be rough to lose a player of his caliber. He could easily be a difference maker on a team that is closer to competing

  6. I would be fine with paying Clax 21m a yr, Clax has evolved his offensive game to honestly be a third to fourth scoring option, if given the chance.

Honestly feels like a slight discount similar to Jaylen Brown underperforming his contract year and signing for below the max on his first extension.

  7. Are they able to extend Claxton right now? If they are, kind of feels if they aren’t able to get something done by the trade deadline he could be moved.

  8. Jarrett Allen is virtually the same player as Clax. JA got 5/100 so Clax getting the same isn’t preposterous.

  9. If Brooklyn can get Claxton back on a multi-year deal for less than $25 million per season then we do it immediately. If we ever need to move Clax at a later date (why would we?) then its a moveable contract.

Claxton hasn’t taken the jump I thought he would so far this season with scoring. I really thought he’d be making two or three shots away from the rim whether it be a corner 3 or a mid-range jumper. This will keep his price down compared to the figure I thought he might command. This doesn’t mean Claxton can’t add to his arsenal. He is only 24 but by signing Claxton to a multi-year deal we lock up NC for his likely peak years.

But this means Brooklyn probably will have to move on from Royce and Dinwiddie both free agents and both due new contracts which the Nets probably can’t pay.

Ben Ten’s contract will expire in 2025 but it seems unlikely we can move him before then without giving up picks which would be a terrible decision.
