;) LOL

Anyone wanna change their stance on this? 😉 Come join the train you’re still early.

ALSO, not that i’d ever wish for this to happen but, if mitchell is hurt… does that mean Merril might be a starter? … 😉

  1. He rlly a 3 point specialist (even more than Strus and niang) but I liked that he was giving all to make impact on the game. Diving for the ball, draw charges (tried against the Hawks as well) and maybe he can become a Duncan Robinson (with a far better contract)

  2. I mean yeah this isn’t really a hot take or crazy prediction. any scouting articles or just anytime he’s brought up this is mentioned. He can get hot but he’s awful on defense and when his shots aren’t falling he’s a liability. Great last couple games and love his shooting motion. Hell get more minutes and hopefully balls out.

  3. i reckon running him with Donovan is a good call. I don’t like Donovan/Levert because it’s just 2 iso players taking turns shooting. With a Donovan/Merrill lineup the defence is focusing on Donovan so if Merrill runs his motion he will end up open more times than not. If the defence respects Merrill, it gives Donovan an easier chance to do his thing

  4. There’s so much value in movement shooting that I’m surprised at how quiet people normally are when discussing it in regard to our offensive system. I’m not the biggest fan of JB but I’ll give him the credit that he does have some good plays/sets for our specialist players. Love and Cedi performed well with us (atleast in 2021-2022) because of their offball presence and I think Merrill can really replicate that success with his play style. Only wish the starting line up incorporated more movement than they normally do, would love to see Garland play ala Steph and just kill guys by constantly moving and scoring off the ball.

  5. It’s nice to see a bench guy you have a soft spot for have a good game. But the hard fact is that he’s just not a very good player, I know that because the people who spend every day watching him play basketball very closely have decided he’s not worth playing in nearly any scenario.

He’s good at shooting the 3 ball. But he has almost zero other skills that are at an NBA rotation level. You said 20-30mpg, I don’t think he could physically handle that load for more than a week. It’s one thing to be a defensive liability for the occasional shift, but what about when teams start picking on him EVERY possession? You called Strus and Niang hit and miss, but if their shots aren’t falling they still have physical and mental skills that Merrill does not.

All that is to say, 1 dimensional players can make a living in the nba but it’s going to be spent on the end of the bench 🤷‍♂️
