Would be nice if we could sign someone or at least have a Yamamoto meeting or something. Some excitement would be nice. It would be even nicer if our FO could just admit that Yamamoto is a perfect fit, we’re going to have to overpay but it’s fine and we’re doing it anyway.
Wym!? We just signed RHP Bront Whistlepeen from single A/s
The Cubs have not been in the top ten teams of highest payroll since 2020 (the last year we made the postseason). This is despite the fact that we are the third biggest media market, our billionaire owners have more money than God, and [Wrigley is the most expensive ball park to go to.](https://www.tnbets.com/most-expensive-sports-stadiums/)
We did something. We signed that Pantone guy to a minor league deal.
In short…
NL Central is ours!
I know it can be worse…
But it can also be a whole lot better
You accept a worst team than last year and be happy with it 🤷🏻♂️
60/40 they call hiring Counsell was their top move and they do very little to nothing else. Like it or not this is a large market team controlled by people with a small market outlook. There’s no way getting around that. It is what it is and they’re simply not going to change. Oh, well.

Jed just is getting outmatched imo. If you look at the standings from last year. There are more potential buyers than sellers right now. And those who are supposed sellers, who do you want from them? A’s, Rockies, Nats, Maybe Mets, Maybe Red Sox. None have a ton to offer for what we need and they are willing to give up.
Twins and Guardians have no business being sellers in their division but are facing some money problems. But there hasn’t been that much rumors from this.
Which leaves FA. Personally Yamamoto is a perfect fit for what we need. Overpaying is the benefit us big market teams have. We shouldn’t have to worry about our owner pulling back spending like a lot of us do. He’s 25. Front load the contract if you’re worried about the ROI.
That made my day, it’s funny because it’s true!
We spent it all on a manager. We’re just a poverty franchise, we can’t spend money. Now please enjoy our increased ticket prices and 3rd highest beer price in the league so our poor owners can afford to buy some more real estate. Maybe finally get that european soccer team.
Guys it’s Jed again. I am not sure why you all are not satisfied yet??? I’ve already made two major moves in acquiring Jorge Alfaro and Tom Pannone.
What more do you want?
This time last year we had already signed Belli, Taillon, and Swanson
Spent all the money on Counsell
To me if feels they’re in on one of: Imanaga, Belli, or Hoskins
Imanaga’s market will develop after Yamamoto signs soon, Belli and Hoskins have the same agent so it could come down to the number of years Belli is willing to settle for
But, I fear they’ll be interested in Corey Kluber before too long
