  1. wow I was totally wrong about them cutting Riley already. I guess they probably realize that they need to move on from him end of season anyhow so why not just cut now and try to sign back to practice squad. They have 2 more elevations for Badgley so they can kick the can on signing him to team until week 18.

If we re-sign Patterson to PS, can he get three elevations as well then?

  2. thats kinda nuts… was he really this bad in practice or anything? He wasnt a great kicker but I never thought he was bad enough to cut now

  3. Starting to think the change from Patterson to Badgley was as much about roster numbers as it was performance based.

  4. Has only missed 8 kicks in 3 years. 88% average this season. 1 of 2 from 50+. Missed 3 PAT’s entire career (1 blocked in Jax, 1 just a miss against Green Bay, and the other due to a bad snap against bears). Surprised by this move

  5. Patterson missed to PATs recently and can’t be trustee in the 50 range.

I guess they think money badger could do better.

  6. Makes sense. Badgley was really solid last year. I was surprised they didn’t just keep him this off-season. Patterson was reliable for us, but just didn’t have the range we may need in the playoffs

  7. Surprised everyone here thinks Patterson was awful – most analytics I’m seeing has him as an average to slightly below average kicker. Thats actually better than Fox who for some reason continues to escape any scrutiny at all.

If they cut him due to lack of range fair enough – but Badgley isnt any better there

  8. I know nothing but kinda surprising to go with Badgley who is 5/13 in his career from 50+ which equals 38%.. meanwhile Patterson is 3/6 for 50%.

I don’t really get it but hey I trust them

  9. I was pretty happy with Badgley coming out of last season. I was really shocked when we moved on from him. Though Patterson wasn’t too bad, either. I still remember the cold, dark period between Hanson and Prater. And that first season when we had the converted punter miss a few chances to seal what ended up being a tie against the Steelers. I will never again take a kicker for granted.

  10. It’s hilarious that last week half this sub was calling for Hooker to play over Goff, and now 90% of the comments here are ignoring that part to talk about replacing one mediocre kicker with another mediocre kicker.
