Shaq talks about ranking Steph Curry above himself all-time, and wether it’s time to put Steph Curry in the conversation

  1. The thing I love most about this is that these conversations are happening after a regular season game in December

  2. Shaq is a famous Steph homer, possibly cause a Steph-Shaq duo – just imagine that for a minute – would have cracked the NBA over its back like Bane did to Batman. Yeah I said it, Bruce.

I can’t agree with humble Shaq. In an all-time draft my first pick is Shaq over MJ or LeBron or anyone. I’m not saying he’s the GOAT. I am saying I’m building my team around him. Easy rings.

  3. Shaq changes his opinions on his rankings every 5 days. Dont know why anybody cares at this point.

  4. Even as a big Steph fan, this is a wild take. You can have a conversation if he’s a better offensive player than Shaq, but putting him in GOAT convo is a bit much.

  5. Blew me away but makes me think. Obviously Jordan is always going to be the goat. But a guy like Steph has a different kind of impact that is impossible to compare. Like if Jordan played with Steph the defense would still need to focus on Steph.

  6. He and the Warriors are the Jordan and Bulls of this era if we’re being real.

They are the dominant team of this era and he is the catalyst.

And after 2022, the basketball community for the most part determined that he was actually better than KD.

And Draymond’s contribution to the team gets minimized.

I’m not saying I agree or not but I’ve thought about it.

Like is he actually GOAT-level player and we’re not seeing it because he’s a small guard who shoots 3’s? Or is he just luckier than everyone? idk I think it’s a good debate.

  7. Been watching basketball for over 20 years. Didn’t get to watch bulls mj. But got to watch prime shaq kobe, duncan and other greats. And i think i agree with the him. Only other player i put above Steph that i have seen with my own eyes in terms of impact is lebron

  8. Steph having the value that he has without even having the ball is such an insanely valuable trait for a team that I think people don’t really get. There is zero opportunity cost for that, he just has this constant impact in like every possession he’s involved in whether he has the ball or not.

  9. People are missing the response of “is he better than you?” And Shaq’s organic response of “way…”

  10. I think when he retires he’ll be regarded as the best player under 6’5 of all-time, but I think the nature of the sport means it’s really hard to be in the GOAT conversation if you’re not hyper versatile/well-rounded or elite for a very long time (15+ years).

Assuming he has a few more great years ahead of him, I think his ceiling is 4th because it really seems that LeBron/MJ/Kareem tier is not attainable. He’s my favorite non-Laker ever by a very large margin.

  11. What the GOAT conversation? Listen, he is without a doubt, the greatest shooter of all time, without question. But he is not the GOAT.

  12. I remember I seen a YouTube comment say along the lines “He doesn’t have to be better than Bron and MJ. His style of play is something we’ve never seen before.” And I couldn’t agree more

  13. Kenny had a great point about doing other things on the court besides offense. Now curry is one of the best of all time and his impact on the game is undeniable. But you’re not taking him first if every player of all time is available.

  14. Steph is the only basketball player ever , that you know and feel he is going to be like ronaldo/ messi. Those guys get the ball you know magic is about to happen , I’m not even a golden state fan , but god damn is Steph literally magic. The last finals he won was 1000000% career highlight . He beat the Celtics at their peak by himself .

  15. I think Steph is pretty close to if not the greatest offensive player of all time. All the guys in the GOAT conversation were ridiculous on both sides of the ball, Steph’s D peaked at passable.

  16. KD ruined his case, such a double edged sword for him and GSW fans.

If Curry without KD had gone 3/4 or even 2/4 vs those Cavs teams his legacy would be better than it is now, and he’s borderline top 10 as it stands which is absolutely incredible.

  17. I’ve said this forever but it doesn’t matter how many chips Steph wins or how long he can play at a top 10 level. He’s not that tall, so people will just not put him ahead of other people even though he should be .

  18. Regardless of if he’s #1 he absolutely should be in every single top 10 period. He’s as much as a given for top 10 as Lebron or Jordan IMO

  19. He said yes to putting him over himself but when Ernie asked over Michael? He quickly said nah 😂 that’s fair

  20. God can people stop making all time lists and watch the damn game it is so exhausting it does not matter shaq why I’m earth compare a 6’3 guard playing now to you, a 7’2 360 pound center who’s prime was 20 years ago. They have two complete opposite skill sets

  21. I mean it’s not crazy, once you get past the obvious Jordan/LeBron, you move onto Kareem, Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Timmy D, Bird, Hakeem, Russell, Wilt, and I see no reason why Curry shouldn’t be in the middle of that group with 2 MVPs and 4 championships while unequivocally being the best shooter of all time.

  22. It fascinates me when players have team success used to support cases or against them, or ignored. Like, almost nobody discusses where LeBron belongs without talking about his team’s current record or playoff record, and then here we have a pretty decent game tonight from Steph on a pretty boring mid Warriors team and suddenly we have to bring up his place among the best in the game.

  23. I think Steph Curry should be in the conversation before Lebron.

    1. MJ
    2. Kobe
    3. Curry
    4. Lebron
