  1. Pirates originally drafted him in the 38th round back in 2009…LMAO. I do not believe they were able to sign him though…as Arizona drafted him again in the 6th round in 2012.

  2. I don’t hate this in a vacuum, but it’s curious why Jake Lamb would want to sign here. We suddenly have a huge logjam of very similar types of players, ones that can hit decently and possibly play 1B or RF, but are more suited to DH.

    -Cutch

    -Connor Joe

    -Rowdy Tellez

    -Edward Olivares

The 26-man roster has a limit of 13 pitchers, so that means 13 position players in total. Outside of your ten starters, you only have three on the bench to cover days off for every player. You’ll need a back-up catcher and a back-up middle infielder. That means Jake would have to beat out one of the above for the final spot on the roster. Given the resources spent to acquire Cutch and Rowdy, they’re a lock to make the team. Olivares was just acquired and has no more options, so he’s also going to make it.

What does a 33-year old Jake Lamb bring to the table to beat out Connor Joe, who is a year younger and somehow still on a rookie deal with team control until 2028? I just see no possible future for him here, despite being a replacement-level player.

  3. I think this is the worst signing we’ve had in awhile and the worst this off season. Dude had 2 good seasons early on his career and has been pretty bad since then. I genuinely don’t understand this. I don’t think he brings anything meaningful to the team. Waste of money in my opinion. Rather call up a minor leaguer. Couldn’t be any worse.

  4. Just looked @ his career stats
    7 years in Arizona.

Then stints with 6 other clubs, all under 43 games played with each 🤣
