  1. The dodgers are gonna get glazed beyond belief but the Braves are still built better currently. Even more so if we get another high quality starter

  2. We were never in on any of them and this point isn’t the Dodgers fault (doesn’t mean I’m not saying fuck em lol), but Yamamoto and Ohtani knew where they were going to end up. The Dodgers had to be competitive of course, and had the means, and got it done, but the two free agents knew.

Dragging it around the way they did was real fucking annoying in hindsight.

  3. All this to lose to the 82 win Reds in the NLDS.

In all seriousness, the rotation for the Dodgers is still suspect and underwhelming. They added an injury prone starter in Glasnow and a giant unknown in Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Braves have a better rotation, and it’s not close. I’m don’t get the hype. The Dodgers sheld out a bunch of money for style—but lacking substance.

  4. Does anyone know if the $50ish M posting fee at all factors into CBT calculations or is it just an additional one time cost?

  5. Dodgers always buys players and explodes during the off season but always IMPLODES in the end.

  6. Let’s be totally honest here. They’ve committed $700 mil to a guy who may only be a DH (a very good one but still crazy) and $325 mil to a huge unknown. Most of these stellar Japanese league pitchers drop down to earth relatively quickly.

  7. Good for them. They spent almost nothing last offseason, geared up and then have spent huge this offseason.

I hate the Dodgers and I really wish Yamamoto had gone to the Yankees (ugh why did all of his favorite teams have to be gross) but I’m glad he’s not a Met and I’ve realized I internally overestimate how much we interact with the Dodgers in a given year. It’s 6 regular season games and then maaaybe a playoff series, but the last few years have shown we can’t take that second part for granted.

EDIT: My last thought is that it sucks for parity (which is a good thing imo) that there are haves and have-nots in baseball. But since owners and players won’t ever agree to a cap-floor system and because there’s really nothing else that will incentive baseball’s awful owners (hello Nutting, Castellini, etc.) to pour money into the on-field product if they aren’t so inclined, I don’t really see a path to ‘fixing it’ beyond that fact that postseason baseball has extremely high variance.

  8. Congrats to both the Mets and the Phillies on getting springboarded as my least favorite teams. Dodgers were #3 already.

  9. Might be a hot take but I hate the Dodgers more than the rest of the NL East combined now. This game is being completely ruined

  10. Idk they might need to be investigated or something. But in all seriousness, you can’t really ‘buy’ your World series anymore. Things are so random nowadays so this doesn’t really bug me.

  11. Fuck LA and all involved with them. The Ohtani contract is a fucking disgrace that should not have been allowed to happen. Now they’re landing the ace of the off season. I hope they all choke on a huge dick in 2024.
