Red Sox pursuit for Hernandez is “real” (Cotillo)

I like this as a potential signing, but I still feel we need more pitching. This likely also closes the door on a reunion with Turner. BUT, this makes me wonder if we see an outfielder get moved as this kinda crowds it up again

  1. FWIW: MLBTradeRumors has projected his deal with a team this offseason to be 4 years, 80 mil

  2. I like Soler better as a hitter, but Teoscar has been less of a liability in the field the last few years. He’s enough of an improvement over Yoshida that we could put Masa at DH or have the rotation like Breslow had talked about

  3. This would be so stupid. We have more than enough outfielders. Why not let the kids we have play? That’s going to lead to a stupid trade where we give away a future super star for an aging starter who will walk away after 3 years.

  4. How many OF’s do the Red Sox need?

    Tyler O’Neill
    Jarren Duran
    Masataka Yoshida
    Ceddanne Raefala
    Wilyer Abreu
    Rob Refsnyder
    AND Teoscar Hernandez

  5. On board with it. We need an OF bat to replace Verdugo. Hate on the man all you want but he was in the top half of the lineup for most of 2023 for a reason.

  6. For people confused on the number of outfielders, I don’t see an issue. You start with Teoscar, Yoshida, O’neill, Duran, and Abreu filling the 3 outfield spots and DH with someone basically getting a day off every 5th game. Rafaella starts in AAA because his bat could use more seasoning and someone will eventually get hurt or underperform. You don’t worry about Refsnyder because he’s owed 1-2 mil for one year on a contract issued by a different front office. If he makes the bench cool, if he gets cut aw shucks.

    What am I missing?

  7. I feel like every time we get a player with “ridiculous” numbers at Fenway, they fucking suck ass when signed.

Anyone remember the Red Sox killers of Carl Crawford and Julio Lugo?
