The OEL trade still sucks, but really proud of Tocchet and Allvin for making the most of what they have.

  1. Do you think Rutherford/Allvin would’ve still bought out OEL if the Canucks would’ve known he’d rebound into a serviceable second pairing LHD for this season?

I love where the team is at but OEL is still averaging 20 mins a night and has 16 pts (yes with Montour and Ekblad injuries). What would’ve the impacts been to the current roster?

For the record I like this team and am not campaigning for a world where he stayed. I’m just curious what the real impact to the team would’ve been. Likely not first place that’s for sure!

  2. They’ll need to make smart gambles on some players long term to help stabilize those back to back season of higher OEL hit.

I think Joshua and Lafferty is a coin flip who gets brought back. Blueger is a C so they’ll be aggressive getting him back in the fold long term.

  3. The amount of crippling damage Benning did to this franchise in the last couple years before being fired is staggering, I am beyond impressed with how the new management is navigating this.
The really really bad years of OEL are a couple years away but hopefully Bettman will get a brain and stop choking the league to death with a pennie pinching cap and we can find more excellent cost effective players like this year.

What a fantastic season so far, great work management, coaches and players!

  4. If we win a cup with Garland that trade will be worth it no matter how much the OEL buyout hurts
