Why Sochan is NOT hating on or being jealous of Wemby and purposely avoiding passing to him.

The first image is the amount of times our players have passed to Wemby total on the year The second is who to and how many times Jeremy Sochan specifically has passed to each of the Spurs.

Here we can see from the first image is that of all the passes Wemby has received, the most have been from Sochan total on the year. My interpretation from this is that when Wemby is on the floor, he receives the majority of his passes from Sochan, which contradicts and in my opinion, disproves the many statements saying that Sochan is icing out Wemby due to jealousy, incompetence, or whatever other crazy scenarios yall make up for juicy discussion.

In the second image that demonstrates who Sochan passes to, it shows that -yes he passes to other teammates more- but this is likely not on purpose and more likely due to a combination of Wemby not having as much playing time, as well as the fact that Sochan has a tendency to prefer passing to the perimeter over passing into the paint (due to fear of turning over the ball and/or a lack of passing vision and IQ)

notice also that Sochan’s passing numbers to Devin (3rd) and Wemby (4th) are basically the same, which demonstrates more of a Sochan positional preference to pass the ball to Keldon and Zach (likely due to easier passing access since they live on the perimeter) than a preference to not pass to Wemby specifically.

TLDR: Wemby’s passes received stats (image 1) indicate Sochan passes to him the most of any teammate, this tells us that when Wemby IS on the floor, and when he DOES get a pass, it is more often from Sochan than any other player. That doesn’t mean his teammates pass to him often enough, but it does prove Sochan isn’t purposely icing out Wemby, it more demonstrates that the team as a whole is still learning how to pass better to Wemby (which goes along with Devin’s recent interview where he brings up that they need to learn how to find Wemby more)
