  1. They are safe because the QB situation is never just on the head coach

They need to find a QB and quick.

  2. Getting the right QB solves a lot of problems. Heinicke isn’t the solution but him playing on Sunday showed that a lot of the problems Smith has is with the QB.

  3. I’d be okay with it if and only if we get an actual solution at QB. That way if things go south next year fast we can just fire AS and there’s no question who’s fault it is

Tbh I barely even like him, his smug ass attitude mixed with complete ineptitude and trying to outsmart everybody unnecessarily is just annoying as hell

  4. if we go into next season with Kirk cousins and Arthur Smith running the show? I’m no longer a falcons fan

  5. Arthur Blank is continually committed to mediocrity. I can’t wait for Arthur Smith to bring in Ryan Tannehill as the backup and convince everyone that Desmond Ridder is the guy again and the subreddit will somehow believe it.

  6. Congrats to everyone who was shaming people for being upset we beat the colts.

Has anyone ever heard the term “delayed gratification” before?

  7. I’m mostly fine with this. It seems to me the outrage on Reddit is a bit an overreaction. He simply isn’t as bad as the haters are saying (but also not as good as those who support him are saying). And I’m just not sure there is a great alternative out there right now anyway.

I think if we can get more competent QB play then a lot of Smiths deficiency can be covered up. And if we can strengthen the o-line and somehow find another key upgrade on defense then we can look like a completely different team.

    Edit: wording

  8. I’m as big of an AS hater as anyone but if Heinicke turns in a few games of competent qb play and shows that the team really is just a half decent qb away from being a true contender even with artie at the helm, I don’t think you should fire him.

  9. Offensive minded coach hasn’t scored 30 points or more his 3 years here. Launch this idiot into the Sun.

  10. We need a QB, that’s the issue. We’ll never know what AS can accomplish with two back up QBs trotting out there every Sunday. Theu better figure that shit out in the offseason.

  11. I’d take this with a grain of salt, Breer isn’t the best source in general. That said the best QB in FA is Kirk Cousins who probably will still be recovering from his injury for a few games at the least.

Kicking the can and passing on drafting a QB in what looks like a decent draft sounds irritating. There’s also the worst case scenario that Smith wants to bring his guy Tannehil in and I’ll never forgive Blank if that happens.

  12. I would rather bring in a veteran QB than draft one if Smith is still here. He has shown nothing in terms of developing a young QB. He doesn’t even have a damn QB coach. I don’t want to draft a QB to have him waist a year of development under Smith and then Smith turn around and say we had a bad season because we had a rookie QB and bringing Smith back again just to waste another season. If he can get it together and bring in some good supporting staff to help with development, then maybe it will be okay but there has been zero evidence this will happen.

  13. If it takes one game to have AB to “trend towards” keeping AS, what would back to back road losses to the Bears and Aints do? If AS stays, I imagine Ragone HAS to go… right?! Someone will have to be the scapegoat

  14. I mean our owner made it clear he wasn’t sure and was going to watch the next three games to decide. Then we probably had the most complete game of the year. How could the result be any different?

  15. I understand the frustration with AS because this year has been a huge letdown, but let’s not act like he has been a complete flop. The defense you see today is because he and terry brought in the right guys to turn the defense around. I’m sure a lot of you will say it was all terry who did that but common sense tells you AS had a lot to do with those decisions as well. Remember, a lot of you were panicking when we brought in an inexperienced DC instead of Flores or ejero. The offense has been atrocious this year and there have been issues with playcalling but you have to realize hindsight is 20-20. AS may not be the offensive guru we hoped but the team loves him and respects him. If he stays, hopefully he will have the humility to bring in some coaches from a successful offense to help turn things around. Being able to surround yourself with the right people is a huge part of being a successful HC

  16. Coach smith deserves a few more years to get this thing rolling. He’s a good man with a bright football mind. We need to have faith.

  17. Miss me if AS is head coach next year. I thought I’d give the falcons another chance but nope. Not again with him at the helm. Can’t and won’t do it.
