  1. Holy shit. Out of left field. Amazing. This seemingly shows they’re going to spend and wanted to free up more space to do so. Love it. Need to replace him with an ace.

  2. Wow. Thanks for the memories, Sale!

Curious how much $ they sent to Atlanta, but assuming there’s a lot off the books now, they need to reinvest this quick on pitching.

I know we’ve been past the point of “expecting” anything from Sale, but I sort of thought he’d contribute solid innings this year.

    Edit: Spelling

  3. Sale was awesome player, teammate and great in the community

    Sucks he couldn’t stay healthy

    Was fun to root for

  4. This is a fair trade. But im not gonna lie, I LOVE chris sale and deep down I believed he was gonna be back… Sad to see him parting away. Hoping he get back on trail

  5. Vaughn’s bat looked insanely good when he debuted. His fielding…needs some work. He does have a ton of potential

Massive shocker of a trade. Good luck to the legend Chris Sale

  6. I’ve always been holding out hope that he could get healthy and have one more cy young type season, I’m gonna miss him so much

  7. Alright so Giolito basically replaces Sale, still need 2 starters. Have always liked Grissom, even though he has some flaws it’s a better return than I expected for Sale

  8. Grateful for what Sale did for the Sox but it was time to move on. He’s old and injury prone, not a guy you can rely on but for the Braves it’s a solid gamble.

  9. This trade is amazing. Grissom is a legit prospect and has shown big upside in his cup of coffee in the majors.

I love Chris Sale, won’t forget all he did for this team. He was a true gamer, and unfortunately his body just couldn’t hold up but he always put 100% into it whenever he could

  10. I love this trade for two reasons.

    1. Grissom immediately fills our gaping hole at 2B. Yes, he is unpolished and struggled last year, and is a horrible defender, but he is young and a former prized prospect. Plus, he is an RHH bat. It gives balance to the lineup. It’s not the best we could do, far from it actually, but to get rid of Sale? I like it.
    2. Sale being gone, even though I imagine we are paying for some or almost all of Sale’s contract, means we’re serious about upgrading the rotation. I think it signals that we’re getting at the very least one and very likely two additional arms.

A big thanks to Sale for 2018. Sorry it never worked out after that, but I’ll never forget what he did for us in his earlier years with the team.

  11. I have been waiting more than 2 years for Sale to be traded away. He has been a weight on the roster due to his injuries for way too long and I think this now opens up more options for aligning the pitching rotation. Will have to see what other moves the team makes now, there are numerous trades being worked on behind the scenes.

  12. If I had to bet money, I’d say Teoscar and Paxton signings are coming very soon. Then Yorke + others are on the move for a decent, but not elite, controllable starter

  13. I was in Yankee stadium the night we closed out the Yankees in ‘18. I can still feel the chills I got when Sale got up in the pen that night.

Farewell, champion! He was a real one

  14. Hey y’all, take care of our boy Vaughn! If I recall correctly he debuted at Fenway park in 2022. He can be great with the bat, and has a fantastic personality.
Sincerely, a Braves fan. (Who happens to live in Boston)

  15. 4 years and 151 IP, 3.93 ERA. That’s Sale for us since the extension. I’m happy about this.

  16. Still cleaning up after Dombrowski – I’m just glad we got anything of value for him. Sale’s averaged 37 innings a season the last three years and was more like a #2/#3 SP when he was healthy last year at age 34.

  17. Fitting. Grissom had his first HR and stolen base in Fenway. His HR was a MOONSHOT that cleared the monster.

  18. The crutch is gone. New Era begins! (Loved Sale, but time just ran out)

For the haters, he had to waive his no trade clause so he was on board for this and probably asked to go to ATL. Hopefully the team did him right for waiving his clause.

My guess there is something else coming as this feels like a set up move for roster space
