Unpopular opinion but i hope we let madubuike walk. He’s been amazing but it’s been 1 great year and i have faith that we could find another DT that could be successful in Macdonald’s scheme, probably not as success as Madubuike but good enough to fill that hole. Maybe Travis Jones will take a step forward.
We’ve already got so many big contracts, i don’t feel great about restructuring a bunch of contracts to sign another. Tying up so much cap 6-7 players isn’t a great idea imo. 23m per year is a lot for a player thats had 1 great season. I say we let him walk, keep our cap space and take our 3rd round comp pick the following year.
Where are these contract numbers coming from for Madubuike, Zeitler, etc? Is that just an educated guess?
I think we might try to franchise tag Madubuike. Looks like that’s currently around 18m for DTs so we could probably do one more year there if we think we have the horses to make a run again next season while we figure things out long term.
Ronnie stanley’s deal needs to be redone. there’s so much money there we’re just giving away for a phenomenal, but rotational LT at this point. he just doesn’t play enough for all that money.
