On this great day in history!

I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the anniversary than a Bengals win over the Chiefs today! Who Dey!

  1. Marvin did a lot to turn this team around. He might’ve stayed past his expiration but that was more on the front office than him.

  2. Like many things I feel Marvin never recovered from the 05 play off loss. After that his teams were nervous and timid in primetime and play offs.

  3. Why would you celebrate this? The guy turned the entire franchise around from the absolute disaster that was the 90’s. Not only that but Marvin was a helluva human being who did tons for the community. Both the franchise and Marvin himself are in better places now but to think he didn’t help set the stage for what we have now is nonsense

  4. Meh. Marvin Lewis did his best. I’m not gonna celebrate the man’s firing. I was glad we moved on. He did his thing and couldn’t do more in the end. But marking the day like we let go of a scrub is a waste of life and time. Marvin was legit. What you see today out of this organization is Marvin’s work.

  5. Marvin Lewis’ tenure was an important step forward for this team to get out the league’s doldrums.

Sadly for him, he wasn’t also the final step forward for the franchise, and moving on from him was another step in that process.

I think it’s important for this fanbase to remember that he did something very few coaches who are moved on from do, and that’s leave the team in a better place than when he arrived. Granted, there was nowhere to go but up compared to when he arrived, but no logical Bengals fan can argue the team was even close to as bad as when he arrived. The roster was far from perfect, but could you imagine how much harder a trip to the Super Bowl could have been without his final draft class including Jessie Bates and Sam Hubbard?

Moving on was the right thing to do, but while he wasn’t the final piece of the puzzle, he did put a lot of pieces together to allow the puzzle to be finished.
