Winter Classic Inspired Glass-Blown Art

[Music] glass making to me is really special but  it’s really given me a focus so something I can   work on for the rest of my life every piece  starts essentially the same it’s a round glob  

Of glass I often will think of it as looking  at a blurry image of what I’m making and then   refining that and making it come into Focus the  hardest part often in a sculpture like this is   the combining of the elements it’s a multi-art  sculpture putting them together in a way that  

Looks correct flows nicely but is also secure and  stable so the Kraken tentacle is essentially this   amorphous gooey thing and then the sword which  is very hard angular metallic and I thought it   made a really nice interplay of themes of  kind of characteristics between the two [Music] pieces

Lead Glassblower Hugh Willa and his team at Seattle Glassblowing Studio show the creation of a custom piece of glass-blown art inspired by the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic. The Kraken take on the Golden Knights on New Year’s Day at 3PM ET.
