The Mavs have a record of 10-4 this year when Luka, Kyrie, and Lively play

Just to gauge this team’s potential, that would probably put them at 3rd in the west. Denver has a record of 15-5 with Murray which would put them in 2nd.

Mavs have a net rating of +5.7 with the trio playing, which would be 4th in the west (Nuggets +8 with Murray). This probably puts them on the fringe of contention. Boston, Philadelphia, OKC, and Denver all have +8 or better. Seems likely that the champion will come from these 4. Mavs would fall into the next group with Minnesota, Milwaukee, and LAC.

Unsurprisingly, the wolves and thunder have had extremely healthy seasons.

Mavs could be potential contenders with the emergence of lively. Just need to get Kyrie over to Germany for some experimental stem cell injections. A trade for Siakam could also improve the defense which is sorely needed.

  1. man, a 5 man closing lineup of Kyrie, Exum, Luka, Siakam, and Lively sounds killer.

its just tough if we endure injuries in the season or come playoffs.

  2. Are the net ratings you site above assuming 100% health for the other teams, as you’ve done for the Mavs? Ex. LAC with PG, Claw, Russ, & Harden?

  3. I’ve gotta say, I hate “when x, y, and z all play” stats. A player’s health and on court availability is part of who they are, you can’t just ignore it.

  4. It would be great to see them playing together tonight, although I’m not holding my breath….

    From espn:

News: 2 hours agoDoncic (quadriceps), who’s listed as questionable, participated in the team’s morning shootaround ahead of Monday’s matchup against the Jazz, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks’ official site reports.

Spin: Doncic is still listed as questionable for Monday’s game versus the Jazz, but he appears to be trending in the right direction. In addition to Doncic, Kyrie Irving (heel), Dante Exum (heel) and Seth Curry (illness) participated as well, so the Mavericks could be close to full strength against the Jazz.

  5. I still hope that Lebron opts out after this season and signs with the Mavs. He’s the missing piece we need. With Luka and Kyrie on the floor he wouldn’t have to even do much. He would be a great 3 and D SF at this age.
