Honoring/Remembering a true Broncos Fan – Advice

Hi everyone, I’m actually a Falcons fan (sigh, I know), but one of my best friends was a die hard Broncos fan since he was a kid so I figured this was the place for me to go.

Sadly, 2 months ago, Phillip passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition. He was an amazing friend and we texted/talked about football weekly. Sundays just aren’t the same without him.

To get to the point, he had played in a Fantasy league that I manage for almost a decade and of course this year he was having his best season so far and even was undefeated at the time of his passing. He ended up placing second (he’d never made it that far before and I took over managing his team, as I was unsure what to do when he passed).

Phillip lived for sports and although Fantasy football seems trivial in light of his passing, it meant so much to him. The winner of the league would like to donate their share (and also Phillip’s second place share) to a charity that is affiliated with the Broncos. I’ve looked online some, and will continue to do so, but I figured it’d be smart to ask here too. It’s not a lot of money (a little less than $200), but any suggestions or ideas that could help me and his other close friends honor Phillip would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Sorry for your loss man!

I don’t know many off the top of my head, but I know Justin Simmons has a foundation, he’s easily one of the most genuine humans in the league so I’d assume it’d be a great cause.

  2. Sorry for your loss. He must have been a good dude, and you and the league winner are great friends!

  3. Someone else posted a link with all the players foundations. If he has a favorite player you could start there. I also really like what Garret Bolles does if you’re looking to donate to a cause for kids: [https://garettbolles72.com/](https://garettbolles72.com/)

Bolles also does a lot of work with at-risk kids in the juvenile system. One of the many things he does is go to court and kids doing well get to meet him and hang out with him for a few hours. He does much more, but this is just one example.

You really can’t go wrong with any player org. You are doing a good thing for your friend and others in need. RIP and I’m sorry for your loss.

  4. So sorry to hear about your friend. It does not get easier, but I love that you’re looking to honor him. A great way to pay tribute to a lost loved one.

All of the already posted charities are definitely worth donating to. The first one that came to mind for me was the Denver Broncos Boys & Girls Club. It came to mind because a lot of money has been channeled to them in honor of Darrent Williams, who was killed in 2007. Williams was passionate about giving back to his community, and Boys & Girls Clubs are a great way to give to communities that are struggling.
