  1. In the 2011 season we played the same opponents. We had one of the greatest defenses the sport had ever seen. A resurgent Alex Smith took us to new heights. In the postseason, Vernon Davis made a catch that went into the history books. Notably, we lost to the Ravens then as well.

Let’s go make some more history.

EDIT: WOW I just realized he made one for this season! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp4xbLaYkfI

shoutout for everything you’ve done /u/mattware

  2. This doc hits me hard every fucking time.

The year before this my entire family went to a home game.

My little cousin wanted to stay after and get his ball signed.

We got there late and couldn’t get a few players to sign.

    But out came alex smith.

The boos were audible. I remember Smith looking at me as I had my thumb pointed down.

It was horrible. You can tell he heard all of it. People were practically saying “you suck” to his face. It was so bad that I felt bad. I wanted to go but my cousin wanted an autograph.

Alex was about to leave when he saw my cousin calling out for an autograph. He came right over. As he got to my cousin to say hi, some dude straight up yelled “you fucking suck!” Right in his face.

He paused and looked at me. I could see in his face how much it all hurt. I don’t know how to describe it. I would feel the same way. I would of left. Shit, I wouldn’t of even showed up.

But Alex, put on a huge smile and signed my cousins football.

When we got back to the parking lot, my cousin excitedly showed my uncle his autograph. My uncle mentioned throwing it in the trash.

    Thankfully they didn’t.

When this game happened, I had never been happier for a player. We were all running around saying “he did it! He did it!”

I have so much goddam respect for Alex. He made a lifelong fan that day.

And it makes me appriciate where we came from.

  3. Lol I watched this the DAY it was posted. Still have it bookmarked all these years later. The song choice was superb.

  4. That was great. Watching that team come together and love every moment they played together made me genuinely emotional knowing they couldn’t win it all together that year or the next. Such a special group of men.

  5. Where do people stand on Mike Singeltary’s coaching tenure from 2008-2010?
