  1. It’s hard to argue he didn’t make impressive throws last week. Clearly, he has talent. The difficulty is that he doesn’t always show it against the best.

  2. He’s an average QB, but makes highlight reel plays. The NFL loves highlight reels, so why would you find it strange they’d make one for Fields?

  3. great arm talent, great leg talent, great intangibles, continues to show improvement

that’s enough for me. if he wasnt still improving (ie this is closer to his ceiling than his floor) id think differently, since he still has some critical improvements to make. to me it’s a no-brainer to keep him and see that he makes those improvements. Fields seems about 1 season behind what the *ideal* development track would be which makes sense considering Nagy year and Tank year

unlike what some people seem to think, u do not need no1 overall to get your QB. and it’s just as fiscally responsible to get a WR1 at no3 overall (plus other draft assets) as it is to reset the QB contract clock 2 years early. u could even get 2 more years of bargain play from Fields if u wanted to and THEN reset the QB clock for 4 more rookie contract years if that’s what the best decision would be at that time

overall: no brainer to me, keep Fields right now

  4. Not really surprising, last thing they want is for there to be no drama or story for the first overall pick. This is the perfect narrative to fill air space between now and the draft. They did this last year but the opposite way by helping encourage the “bears like Bryce young” story.

  5. Would be nice if instead of posting pro-JF content on their official feed, they instead told the refs to actually protect JF against roughing the passer like nearly every other QB is afforded.

  6. He’s definitely good for business for the NFL, and I think they (like most people) expect him to be starting next year for someone, even if it’s not us. Smart of them to talk him up when he’s making these highlight plays.

  7. Wait, isn’t it not great that the 3 passes were under 50% probability? Or is that normal for most passes?

  8. The NFL doesn’t want the bears to draft the best QB in the draft. We have been called QB career killers in the past.
