The inclusion of Jaquez makes this completely unrealistic. You can’t just think of player quality in these things but also relative value. Cheap rookie contracts when the player is good are insanely valuable, especially for a team with ambitions to contend like the Heat.

I think people are being a little hard on this trade, but I agree with the consensus that the Heat wouldn’t do this. Jaquez and two firsts is too much. Caruso can probably get a first round pick from a contender. That would mean Lavine is supposed to be worth Jaquez and a first, and I don’t think that’s right. I don’t think anyone is giving up that much to get him, not with his salary. Take Jaquez out the trade and this seems more plausible.

If I’m Miami, I’m offering one less pick, or even no picks, Zach’s contract is massive for what he brings, but if I’m Miami, this does bring them into serious contention. And if I’m Chicago, I’m offloading Lowry to Philly if possible
