2. I’m so fucking mad. We might have lost another player to injury with Siegs and we just got robbed of a potential OT because these dumbfuck refs decide to look the other way to a CLEAR tripping. You can say we didn’t deserve to win because we let up 5 goals, but fact is, it was a 1 goal game. Doesn’t matter if it was 5-4, 4-3, 3-2, or 2-1. We got robbed of a 5v3. These leagues seriously need to do something about all this dogshit officiating going on. At some point a line’s gonna be crossed and players are gonna snap. It’s gonna be fuck around and find out.

6. Why complain about the refs when you know it’s never gonna change? Especially after last night. We shouldn’t need to rely on a three goal rally to get points on the second game of a back to back anyways.

   What I really wonder about with the team as young as ours is why are we always so flat on the second game? I don’t wanna hear exhaustion because that’s not a valid excuse. The team is so young that it shouldn’t matter and three of our divisional opponents are within a bus ride of home ice, two of which they probably don’t even get a hotel for anyways (I’m probably wrong about that one, but the point still stands). This is the easiest division travel wise and I’m getting tired of seeing them so lethargic on the second game. Did Henrique take the espresso machine with him to Anaheim?

7. I hate the no call game management bullshit. We’ll get that in our favour at various points, but all it does is encourage reckless/ dangerous play. That was an egregious trip and should be called every single time, regardless of context.

   That said, how we were still in the game is beyond me, for various reasons we were genuinely shit tonight.

8. Marginally better goaltending this season and we’d be in the top 3 of the Metro for sure. That plus Marino and Siegs slightly regressing and all the injuries have really dampened our season so far.

   All that being said, we lost a b2b against one of the best teams in the west and are still somehow in a playoff spot and only 4 points behind second place in the Metro (for now). Disappointing that we should be in a much better playoff position if we’d stop making the same mistakes repeatedly almost 40 games into the season, but I’ll continue to believe that we’ll get hot at the right moment and make the playoffs.

10. fuck the refs and fuck that effort and game but most importantly fuck this scheduling. call it an excuse i really dont care, no NHL team in the current year should be playing games back to back more than 10 times in a season let alone fucking 16. 6 current injuries now not even counting recovering guys and the rest playing with nagging ones; the game is less physical now sure but it’s 100x faster. there’s no conspiracy with medical staff or whatever the fuck, no team in the league is transparent regarding injuries & no amount of conditioning or practices from any staff is preventing hockey players getting hurt from playing a ridiculous amount of hockey. 16 back to backs was absurd from the get go idgaf

15. Siegenthaler broken foot, that means Brendan Smith full time Dman now. That won’t work out well. This team is hanging on for dear life right now. Need a Dman, a goalie, and a coach.

18. Ruff is an awful coach. Another game with 3+ goals against, put Bastian on the 2nd line to start the game, took Bratt away from Nico to start the game. His defensive structure consists of leaving the slot open every time. I doubt the players are told to do anything different because it’s been a theme since game 1, doesn’t matter what forward line combo or Dmen pairing is out there, it’s same exact fucking structure. I wasn’t expecting them to win with all those injuries but waiting for the final period to show Amy life is another common theme. I’m absolutely numb to this team now. They take massive strides going forward, but then it all collapses due to poor management choices (bringing Ruff back, not fixing the goalies and going forward heavy with a young dcore) and coaching (constantly benching Holtz, putting palat in the top 6. Putting Haula and palat on a line with Hughes/Nico, etc).

    Just to reiterate. This game is not on Daws, the team is injury plagued again. The medical staff and conditioning staff needs to be reevaluated, and the numerous events at the arena need addressing. That ice is dangerous to skate on and it seems everyone hates it. I believe I heard Dano say (and don’t quote me because I could very well be wrong) that after the game last night there was an event earlier today and then a quick turnaround to make the ice for tonight. That’s fucking bullshit if that is the case.

19. I’ll have to go back and look at the games but it definitely feels like they’ve ended up losing guys during the game and being short-handed on most of the back-to-backs this season.

    And now Siegs has a broken foot.

20. 7 points behind last year’s pace, the most points we’ve ever had, and this sub reads like an obituary.

21. Far too often this team comes out flat, they are inconsistent night to night with their effort levels and give up the opening goal in like 75% of games. This is most damning of the coaching. I don’t know who they could bring in midseason but Lindy cannot be here next season unless this team magically somehow finds their last season’s form. Looking more and more unlikely. Top 3 offseason issues to tackle are goaltending, coaching and figuring out the defensive group/pairings

22. Seigenthaler broken foot. Close to the last straw on the season for the Devils. When it rains in pours.

23. I remember I wrote Fire Lindy on a hot dog and people thought I was a mad man. I mean I’m fucking stupid but it’s nice to see others share my hatred.

    But these injuries fucking suck. We are playing with more grit than I thought we had between last night and tonight. I think Daws was good in spots shows some potential, and I hope Smith can keep this up so I can stop bitching about him.

24. Was at the game. We got absolutely rolled the first two periods. But if we could have made it through the last 22 seconds of period 2, that’s a totally different third period. We need to be better on the second games of back to backs, we’re on track for 5 points out of 32 and that alone keeps us out of the playoffs. That first period looked like a 20 minute PK. Need better play from our star players that remain. Gonna need a tough stretch with such a depleted roster. Clarke did not look good at all. Think we may fall behind in the race and will have to make a serious push if some of our players return from injury. Wasn’t expecting a win tonight anyway so at least they made it an entertaining game to be at. Got to kiss my gf on the jumbo tron.

25. It feels like we are NEVER on the right side of a late-period goal that swings momentum. We finally get one with Haula’s snipe, but give up the back breaker 11 seconds later.

    It’s so hard to win in this league when you give up the 1st goal pretty much every game, and also give up devastating goals late in periods. Even with being pretty badly outplayed tonight, we would’ve had a legit shot if we cut this shit out

27. That was pretty fucking heartbreaking by the end of it:
    * that missed call on that trip at the end was so egregious.
    * can’t believe we clawed our way back into that game when we barely showed up until what over halfway into the game?
    * Lindys lines are such fucking bullshit
    * the Devils are now 5-4-0 when I go to a game this season.
    * honestly from my vantage point no one looked like they were on their A game tonight.
    * the defensive zone play in this game was actually some of the worst Ive seen this season honestly. We could not clear the puck or exit the zone and there was always a Nuck wide open.
    * some of the those goals you definitely want Daws to save but man the way this team played in front of him for most of the game was down right embarrassing
    * like yes we absolutely have a goaltender problem but we ALSO have a problem with how this team plays in the D zone. It’s like they always make the wrong decision in the D zone.
    * I know Siegs has been having a bad year but a broken foot, fuck! The hits keep on coming. Thanks, I hate it
    * look I went into this game not expecting much, but wow what an emotional rollercoaster.
    * second period of the second game of a back to back strikes again
    * anyway it was a shitty loss that was endemic of our issues this season but in the overall scheme of things we are 6-2-0 in our last eight.
    * we’re gonna have a nice four day break before we go on a really tough road trip. hope Lindy uses that time to figure out lines if Jack is out for several games because whatever he came up with tonight was shite. taking two out of three games on this road trip would be grand please and thank you

30. Really getting tired of the game management. Call the game how it is.

31. I just don’t see how we make the playoffs if now Jack and Siegs are also out. The injuries have really taken the air out of any momentum we ever have. I won’t be angry or waste too much energy if we do miss and if we make it I will be delighted to even be there, especially if Dougie and Jack and co. come back around then.

34. I’m not going to say the year is over. But based on Timo and Jack’s injury timelines it might be best to just see where it goes and stop with the trade chatter.

    At this point we no longer need a depth defenseman we need a top 4 defenseman. We need a goalie. And depending on timelines a top 9 forward.

    That’s going to cost way too much to get. Only one team can provide all of that in Calgary, but the price would just be pure insanity
