Interesting comments from Billups on Brogdon

Billups had a lot of good things to say about Brogdon after the game today but I found the following comments interesting (linked):

“He’s in a tough spot here because he’s coming off the bench and sometimes he doesn’t have the ball in his hands and he’s a point guard but he said I understand where we’re at.

And then just after that to explain sitting Scoot in favor of Brogdon: “You know how it is you can’t play everybody.”

To me this is exactly what you would say if the whole operation from Brogdon from Billups to Cronin are on the same page that Brogdon is 100% going to be traded before the trade deadline.

  1. I mean, it’s kind of a given, at this point.

Either way, Brogdon being traded for a pick in the late teens (low seed playoff team) and ideally, another future first would be beneficial for the rebuild.

This draft is one where the best player will probably be found in the 6-12 range rather than the top while another future All-Star will exist in the 15-25 range

  2. anyone who doubts brogdon is being traded at the deadline is certifiably insane. it doesn’t even matter if we only get a conditional second round pick back (we won’t, but just making an example)… dude is getting traded.

  3. The sooner they trade him the better. Every day they dont is another day for him to get injured and take minutes away from scoot or sharpe

  4. An afternoon game in New York is certainly a good time to showcase Brogdon (and Grant?), and it was obvious what they were doing. That, and the team just really needed a win to rid the bad taste from the Dallas games.

But damn, you can tell he wants to get tf out… body language speaks volumes

  5. He’s a great player. I’ve grown a great appreciation for him this season. He’d be an amazing secondary ball handler for a lot of teams.

  6. Without a doubt, when the teams that are in contention want to add a piece by the deadline, Brogdon will be one of the pieces moving. Whether it be for picks or young guys, he’s great but just doesn’t fit, we have the young guards we wanna run.

  7. I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t see it that way. It echos what was said preseason where Brogdon understood he wouldn’t start but believed he would play at the end of games. With this rotation from Billups, Scoot gets great development minutes, and plays Brogdon to try and win the game. This always seemed to be the plan for this season and Brogdon seems to be bought in, not only to not starting but in helping to teach and develop. On an episode of The Trail he said this year he’s learned that there’s more to the league than winning (major paraphrase, but the point was clear, he’s there to help teach).

  8. I do think this last game showed what Brogdon adds to the team- a clutch, vet 6th man gaurd to get us out of close games. But that also is just a highlight value of this guys’ value. He’s not an NBA starter, but he 100% is the guy that gives a roster the depth they need to go from “contender” to “champion”.

Is it weird I want to see Brogdon go to the Bucks?

  9. The fact they waived 2 guys recently means they are probably getting offers that are not just draft assets. They are getting offers that includes players they value more than mays and wainright
