/r/Leafs Mod Search 2024 (& Community Note)

##Community Note

We’d like to begin by apologizing for dropping the ball on adding new mods. We should have done this last year.

Next, we’d like to thank /u/ESF-hockeeyyy and /u/Malliabu for their contributions to the subreddit. ESF’s work ethic is incredible, and Malliabu carried the mod team on his back during the first half of the season. He performed over 80% of the mod actions! Going forward we will try to more evenly divide up the work, because that should never have fallen on you. Thank you both!

On a personal note, I’m sorry I disappeared. My partner passed away and it’s taken me a lot of time to process. It’s something that I’m still struggling with. But it’s a new year, and I’d like to get back in the swing of things. A lot of the other mods are busy with their personal lives, so we’d like to add new mods as soon as possible.

##Mod Search
We are once again looking for **new /r/leafs moderators**!

We will be looking for 3-4 content moderators. Duties include daily content moderation, answering modmail, interacting with the community during games, and other basic mod tasks. If you’re available during off-hours, please make a note of it on your application.

Being a moderator means becoming a volunteer for the Leafs community. **We do not get paid for anything, nor do we expect to in the future**. All of the moderators here on /r/leafs work as a team and major decisions are made only after a good amount of discussion.

**If you’re unable to commit some time during the day, please do not apply. We are looking for serious and active users only!**

##Requirements

– Download the chat app [Discord](http://discord.com) or use the browser based version of it. This is to help ease the communication between all mods regardless of location and timezones.

– Install the extension reddit mod tools for Chrome or Firefox

– Be active – No, we don’t expect you to be on 24/7, but please be active enough to check on the subreddit several times a day.

– Team friendly – All our major decisions as mods are thoroughly discussed and decided together. We are a team, not lone rangers.

## And The Decision…

After taking a look at the applications we will take the next couple days to think things over before announcing our final decision.

If you feel you’re up for the task, or perhaps you know someone that you think would be a good fit – **please leave a comment below telling us about yourself and why you’re interested.**

Thank you and **GO [LEAFS](/r/leafs) GO**!

  1. So sorry to hear about your partner passing away, that’s terrible news… I hope you have as good of a 2024 as you can. Hopefully hockey and the community on here can be a good support for you. Doesn’t get said very much, but thank you for working hard keeping the lights on around here. My condolences for your loss.

  2. Been a Leafs fan since I was born. My dad and I would sit and watch almost every game. He got me into playing hockey (goalie) at a young age and have loved it ever since.

I don’t have many people to watch the games with these days, so I use Reddit as my way of talking to others about my favourite sport. I spend a lot of time in the game threads during the games and enjoy posting highlights and news when I can.

Having a community to chat with other like minded Leafs fans has been amazing for me.

I have done some other modding for other subs in the past, so I have a pretty good understanding of how things work. I am also fairly good with automod and other Reddit bots, though I’m sure you wouldn’t need much help with those. Would love to help in any way I can to improve the sub!

  3. I’m not applying for the mod search, I just wanted to say I’m very sorry for the loss of your partner. Such a difficult thing to go through and process. Please know it will get better. Stay true to yourself and continue to find love and passion in all aspects of your life. Take care and cheers to a better 2024!!!
