Stroman + Imanaga, Who Says No?

  1. He’s 32 so if you do it has to be a 1-3 year deal.

He probably doesn’t want one of those.

  2. Probably Stroman, he has talked shit about Boston in the past and has done work to try to get himself signed by the Yankees.

  3. if we’re gonna be rooting for a bad team I’d prefer to not also be rooting for the biggest cunt in MLB as well, thanks.

  4. Stroman is fine, but I would research his real opinion on Boston and if he actually wants to play here

  5. Last few years we’ve been signing pitchers who are very inconsistent or injury prone. Signing guys like stroman is what we need

  6. I prefer Imanaga but I’d be OK with either. I don’t think they need both. Would rather spend the 2nd pitcher’s salary on a bat like Soler.

This rotation works and I’m reasonably confident you can get around ~150 IP from each:

    1. Giolito
    2. Bello
    3. Imanaga
    4. Pivetta
    5. Crawford

Houck/Whitlock stretched out but start in the bullpen. Can start for longer term injuries/underperformance. AAA will have Winckowski and Dick Fitts for spot starts here and there.

I think Pivetta and Crawford earned another shot in the rotation. Pivetta because of the massive improvement he made after adding the sweeper in July, and because he’s a pending FA you want to see what you have to figure out whether an extension is worth it.

Crawford because his peripherals and statcast numbers were really good and you have such a dearth of controllable starting pitching in the organization its important to take stock of what you have. Adding a 34 year old Stroman on top of Imanaga doesn’t move the competitive needle enough to justify not being able to properly evaluate someone like Crawford who could be just as good and cost you nothing.

  7. I do to Stroman. There is a reason that says “parts of 9 seasons”. I think he is actively declining and is a headcase that would blow up worse than Price in Boston. Imanaga is already gone too. I have no idea what Imanaga is going to be in the MLB so I had no real opinion on him except I did not want to give him $20M AAV based on his scouting reports. I have zero confidence in Stroman and really hope we don’t sign him.
