  1. This is just an opinion piece based around Martino’s report that the Mets only have $10m left

  2. This is crazy doomer clickbait making it sound like the Mets are poor and the owner is cheap.

The luxury taxes are so bad at our threshold I don’t think anyone can blame Cohen for wanting the dead money off the books. Why pay for anyone now when Corbin Burnes and Soto are free agents next year?

  3. The article notwithstanding, it is pretty frustrating how little value the Mets have gotten from the DH between 2020, and 2022-2023. It’s a massive problem.

  4. If there was a guy we wanted, $$$ would be there. Case in point Yamamoto.

We have a good core with pretty questionable pitching. Just let it ride and see what happens and when money comes off the books next year we’ll be in the front of the line like we usually are for talent.

  5. This is about them not exceeding the next level of luxury tax right? I think that makes a ton of sense given the team next year, too many holes to try to patch up a WS competing team. Take the L next year, fight for a wild card spot and maybe get lucky. Retool when some of the dead money gets off the books for 2025.

  6. I’d rather give vientos 400 DH at bats than risk giving Justin turner or jd Martinez a 2 year deal and watch age catch up to them.
