[Jacksonville Jaguars] With the 17th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft…

Someone with “traits” or “value” …. 😔

  1. Just like Tony said

This entire next draft needs to just be Offensive and Defensive line

  2. So if you look at the last seven years, five times the 17th pick has been used on a “blue chip” player who fell a little in the draft, all five of those guys-Gonzalez, Lamb, Dexter Lawrence, Derwin, Jonathan Allen-are pro bowl level guys (or at least in Gonzalez case it appeared that way). The other two instances were teams reaching on offensive linemen-Leatherwood and Zion Johnson-and both of those guys not surprisingly underperformed. So I’d really caution anyone from just saying “draft the best available offensive lineman.” When going BPA is clearly the best move.

  3. Right now I’d take one of the OL guys, Jer’Zhan Newton , Cooper DeJean, or Keon Coleman.

  4. Not that this means anything, but I compiled a list of Pro Bowlers selected at 17 since 2000:

2000 Sebastian Janikowski, K Thats right, the Raiders drafted a kicker in the first round

2001 Steve Hutchinson, OG Hall of famer

    2006 Chad Greenway, LB

    2010 Mike Iupati, OG

    2014 C.J. Mosley, LB

    2016 Keanu Neal, S

    2017 Jonathan Allen, DE

    2018 Derwin James, S

    2019 Jeffery Simmons, DT

    2020 CeeDee Lamb, WR

  5. I’d take a wide receiver, based on what I think will be available. Interior lines should still have good value in the later rounds. Just no more linebackers and running backs in early rounds.

  6. Silver lining to having a lot of holes is there are options lol…doesn’t look like there is much iOL talent this draft unfortunately. So either have to take a tackle with guard experience or go DT or Keon Coleman.

Just did this one on PFF and Imo I think it’s a realistic take on what they might try. A solid interior defender would help Walker and Allen soooo much. And still allows us to get the best center in the draft round 2. The wr class is soooo deep and Wilson was the best available X on the board. And mahogany was the best guard at the time.

  8. Lantham out of Alabama makes a lot of sense. Natural guard with OT flexibility, I feel like it’s a guy who can plug a hole and give us roster flexibility moving forward. I want us to sign a low cost OG and C in free agency. If we do that, flexible offensive line, interior defensive line, CB and WR are all possibilities

  9. Amarius Mims, OL, UGA

Then come right back to the UGA offensive line in the second round Sedrick Van Pran, C, UGA.

Need to completely rebuild the O-line, might as well get players who already have chemistry with each other.

  10. Lurked on r/nfl_draft

This is what I mean by most nfl fans don’t watch jags games.

Why do some mocks have a CB at 17, I get Cooper Dejan and Kool aid mckinstry are cool names. But iOL, WR, iDL are top needs.

And if it’s just best player available I’m taking edge over CB like Verse or Latu and kick Walker on the inside.
