Down on the farm: Execs pick best systems for 2024 (Giants almost completely not mentioned)

A lot of the topics this offseason in light of the free agency failures is the farm system and a lot of differing opinions on whether or not Zaidi has improved it significantly.

Without adding my own opinions, here’s an article polling executives about farm systems and the results.

The results are that the Giants are mentioned only once, as “others having gotten votes” for Most Underrated Farm System”. But even then, that would put them somewhere in the #15-18 rankings on that list, admittedly on a very subjective question.

Have fun with this information!

  1. They’re #1 in my heart though. I think Eldridge, Walker Martin, and Rayner Arias open a lot of eyes this year

  2. Is there any sense on what if anything the FO has been doing to revamp our ability to develop hitters?

  3. Come back to this in a few more years and see how the new complex in AZ is paying off. There’s been a lot of money spent on revamping our minor league development as previously we basically had nothing.

One of the biggest things FZ has done since taking over is emphasizing spending in that area, mimicking how the Dodgers set up their system. Unfortunately it takes time, the right development hires, and a bit of luck to build up our farm system. This past draft class looks quite promising so hope they develop well.
