[Chargers] we’ve completed an interview with Giff Smith for head coach

  1. Obvi give me harbough but I like Giff better than most other available options

  2. I honestly think Giff has potential to be a great HC but I’d much rather have harbaugh plus for the post press game conference giff didn’t seem like he wanted to be a head coach. The players love GIFF but there’s more to being a good HC than having the players love you. I’d rather have Giff if we can’t find someone else.

  3. Giff is that glue guy that everyone loves to have around and generally does a good job. That being said I don’t think he should be taken seriously for HC, at least not here.

  4. The Giiiffffffster

    The Giffmeister

    Sourdough McGiffle

    Smiff Gith

Mr Smith and the Grifting Giffs

  5. Owner: what makes you qualified to lead this team going forward?

Giff: I think my record speaks for itself. *shows funny gif*

  6. I am surprised.

I feel like Giff on Sunday in the post game presser passively declined any HC interest. He didn’t say “no”, but he was definitely quiet about it when asked. He said he was there for the players. He didn’t say “I’d love to be considered” or anything close to that. He almost had an exhaustion/sense of relief aura that he had brought the ship home in one piece. Ambitious interim HCs are usually shoot their shot by now.

Maybe they interviewed him out of respect? Or maybe it was more of a 2 way conversation for Giff’s viewpoint on the current state of the team? He’s been around on the team for 6 years. I want Giff to stay on the team, but not HC.

  7. He deserved an interview (even if it’s just out of courtesy) after how great of a job he did commanding the tank. Players fought hard and kept games competitive, but we ultimately lost out and improved our draft position.

Thank you Giff, wish you the best of luck elsewhere.

  8. Chargers need to pick up Pete Carroll -who is expected not to return to Seattle as head coach next year. He has SoCal roots and will fit in with system… It’s just a matter of getting players on board for his style of coaching
