How did it catch them by surprise? They had to know Russ couldn’t read a defense
I would be surprised if I was a player and we went to a poorer qb to save money hurting everyone’s stats and leading to likely losses, that would surprise me. Hurting my stats impacts my value as an offensive player. Would feel weird at best.
