  1. Wowww im super happy about that length. Hopefully doesn’t take us out of snell and gets us out quick if this guy blows up

  2. We pushed a whole bunch of our chips in with Soto.

You dont how many elite years you’re getting from soon to be 32 year old Judge and 33 year old Cole.

I feel like I have a right to be underwhelmed and annoyed if this is the last big move. A 2-3-4 of Rodon, Nestor, Stroman has potential… for sure. But I also feel like I have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than all 3 of them being healthy and in form at the same time come October.

    Go get snell.

  3. The more time passes, the more confident I feel that the Yankees were damn certain they were getting Yamamoto lol

  4. I would really love this move IF the Yankees add another good starter. Solid #4-5 starter who loves the bright lights. This team need this kind of fire.

  5. I know there are a lot of reservations about Stroman. And signing any pitcher carries injury risk, of course. But there’s a lot to like about adding Stroman to our roster IMO.

    * Short-term contract carries much less risk than pricier arms. Maybe we’ll still be in play for next winter’s top-of-the-line pitching talent (Max Fried, Corbin Burnes, etc.)
    * Stroman’s elite groundball rate fits well at Yankee Stadium.
    * Stroman is fairly reliable to make his starts every five days. Since 2019, Stroman has made 115 of 128 possible starts (excluding his opt out of the 2020 season).
    * He’s never had a FIP above 4 in a full season. Give the man a good defense, and he’ll do well. And the Yankees have a strong infield defense.
    * Stroman has a different style of pitching than the other guys in the Yankees rotation. I feel like that’s a boon in a short series. Keep the opposing lineup off balance.

  6. Risks are there but you’re not finding any better pitchers at that length and (presumably) price.

Cole-Rodon-Stroman-Nestor-Schmidt is a legit rotation. We still need one more guy who can reliably eat innings though, to compensate for the risks our 2-3-4 have.

  7. I don’t particularly like him, but he’s an above average starter and has been one for a long time. We need arms, it was always gonna happen

  8. Yes, Stroman is insane, but his talent definitely warrants a two year deal. I think this is a nice pivot by the Yankees.

  9. Hate to be that guy, but judging how the Yankees have operated the past few years I feel pretty confident that they will not be adding another big arm. Would absolutely be thrilled to be wrong

  10. Since 2021 (last season with NYM) ranks 32nd in ERA (spot ahead of Castillo & Gumby) and his last season with the Mets he had a 2.98 ERA (Senga just had a 2.96) Worth also mentioning he dominated high school baseball on LI.

The narrative that fans are making that he can’t pitch in NY is incredibly foolish.

  11. Length makes this a good signing. Not sure how good he’ll be, but hopeful he eats up some innings for us behind Cole.

  12. Hopefully he maintains his ERA and can pitch innings. After a season of Brito, Severino, and German filling out the rotation, a 4 ERA starter is not a bad thing.

  13. If they get Snell I’ll be really happy with this off-season. Soto, Stro Show, and Snell. It’s not as flashy as Yamamoto but still a great plan B.

  14. Well – not sure if he will perform (injuries and Yankee stadium is by far his worst stadium) but I know the Yanks continue to lead the league in aquiring a**holes – Between the wife beaters and now this big mouth we have almost a full staff aquired in the last few years

  15. Fine with the contract but seeing that this takes us out of Snell / Monty ect is disheartening. Cole Rodon Stroman Nestor Weaver isn’t a bad rotation….but so much has to go right for it to be a championship caliber one

  16. Stroman could work, but I’m not optimistic.

Hopefully, the idea is to also sign Snell. So Cole, Snell, Rodon, Stroman, Cortes.

  17. I always viewed him as a whiny bitch that’s tough in his own mind. Kinda like the pitcher version of Tim Anderson. But since he’s here, I’m willing to support him. Give him a shot instead of writing him off as a bum from the start. If he took a pay cut to be here, that means he wants to be here and that earns respect. If he works out, great. If he doesn’t, at least we’re not locked in till he’s 40.
