Vibe check: how would Broncos Country feel about NOT drafting a QB?

  1. I don’t know about not drafting a QB. But I would probably be okay with it, I don’t see us able to land one of the top prospects without sacrificing more picks and we don’t have a war chest of picks and we severely lack talent on this team. So my preference would be to build the trenches and talent positions with rounds 1-4, hell trade back in 1 for sure get an extra pick. If we see a potential diamond in the rough QB in the 4+ round range take it and rent a vet for one or 2 years.

  2. I’d hate it but if the right qb doesn’t fall to us then there isn’t much we can do

  3. I’d be ok. We’re going to have to make some tough decisions on vet contracts because of our cap situation if we cut Russ. Next season may not be super competitive, but we could truly embrace a rebuild and draft/develop talent at other positions.

  4. I think drafting a QB is the worst move. There will be QBs in free agency that are likely a better fit for the offense. I would move back in the 1st and 2nd round and collect picks to fill the roster to replace everybody leaving.

  5. We need to suck for a couple more years it looks to get first picks…So that’s my strategy. Build a offense line along with some receivers and backs with late picks to have it all set up from a top QB pick.

  6. I plan on getting angry no matter who they pick.

Even if they pick the player I want them to pick

Especially if they pick the player I want them to pick

  7. Too many holes in our roster to draft a qb before the 4th or 5th round but we should take multiple late round fliers. Cut stidham and sign 2-3 guys at vet min as a bridge.

  8. Not a big deal. It’s extremely rare to hit on a web that’s gonna take you to a Super Bowl straight away. Which seems to be what a lot of people expect.

  9. Depends on if we’re going to keep Russ and not play him.

If Sean Payton wants to give Russ another shot i’m all for it. If he doesn’t then we need to trade him. If we cannot find a trade then we need to play Russ.

I think we should draft a QB in any scenario besides Sean Payton wanting to give Russ a complete reset.

  10. We keep constructing rosters like it’s 2004. The key to success in today’s game is having a QB on a rookie deal.

  11. Depends how the draft plays out. Reaching for a guy probably isn’t the best idea, so if the right guy isn’t there @ 12, move back & add picks to bolster depth.

  12. I’m actually expecting the Broncos to not draft a QB and riding with Russ once the contract squabbles are resolved, triggering just about the entire sub.

  13. Who the hell would want to take a QB in our dumpster fire we have atm , casual football fans are the worst

  14. I feel like with Payton, the QB situation hasn’t been in better hands since Peyton was the guy. I’m not really too worried.

  15. I really hope we can trade back and pick up more picks. If we trade back and get one of these qbs, I’ll be happy. If we just stick and pick one, not so much.

  16. Completely fine with it. I would be pissed if this team traded up in its current state. This team has holes across the board, so take the best player at a high-impact position (pass rusher, OT, QB, CB).

Normally, I believe in drafting a qb continuously until you find the guy, but this team cannot afford to do that given the cap and lack of assets.

  17. I would be so happy if they didn’t reach for a qb in the first this year. Penix, Nix, McCarthy are a clear tier below the top 3. It would be a big reach to take any of them at 12.

  18. If you are implying that they finish the jettison of Wilson and rolling with Stidham, then me for fuck sure.

  19. Totally fine with it. Honestly, I think they shouldn’t draft a QB. They should build the rest of the team first. This team is old and slow. Going into cap hell years, starters will be leaving. Draft Bolles replacement. Draft Simmons’ replacement. Start getting these guys coached up.

This team is not going to be good next year. They will have the same record, within a game or two, of this year. Book it. Next year, this team will have more picks if they want to move up and grab a QB. That rookie can start behind at LT that has at least a year in the league instead of some newbie who is learning.

  20. I have been on the losing side of the Bears-FTP fandom, so that’s why I would like to see Denver draft a rookie to sit behind Wilson for a year. Penix, McCarthy, or Nix would learn from a pro-vet without being thrown into the fire of starting their rookie season.

  21. i don’t know how they can’t draft a qb with one of their picks. It doesnt have to be in the first round, but i don’t think anyones going to be happy with stidham sitting at qb1 going into training camp. Even if the russ stuff somehow plays out and he stays, they still need to draft someone they can try to groom.

  22. I want the right QB. If he gone, or he don’t exist, then don’t force draft someone.

  23. How bout we trade Surtain, a TE, and Stidham, plus our first, second, fifth round picks this year and our first and second round picks next year for Tom Brady? Has anyone ever thought of such a bold game changing move? All that for whoever won the Super Bowl like 8 years ago?

  24. There isn’t enough talent on the roster all the way around.

Take Russ’ cap hit all in 2024 and trade Ps2 and Simmons to restock talent. Play Stidham or whoever is cheap next year. Draft a QB in 2025 outside from under the Wilson contract and begin to compete with young talent and no cap hell.

This is the way to success. They won’t do it.

  25. Ride it out with Wilson for another 2 years. Try to find a suitable replacement within that time.

  26. We shouldn’t imo. We have too many other areas of need. Build the rest of the team, and a qb will emerge. Look at what the titans have done with a solid running game, good defense and ryan tannehill at qb! Build the team the worry about a qb. Instead of destroying a rookie by letting him get sacks 5 times a game. Let’s go with the packers model of draft a qb that drops that we like and let him sit a learn for 2 or 3 seasons. Maybe sign cousins, and find a protégé to sit for a few seasons.

  27. With the dead cap I don’t think we should really draft a qb for another 2 years. Broncos should build a good line and team for the next qb first.

  28. This team is more than a QB away from being good. I’d either take BPA or what I think the better option might be is to trade back and get more draft capital.

  29. That’s a perfectly fine scenario. Lots of journeyman on the market we can bring in to bridge the gap.

  30. Unless we get one of the top three I’m fine with it. Broncos have a horrible history of drafting QBs and I’d hate to waste a relatively high 1st round pick on another reach.

  31. Once Al Davis and Pat Bowlen get done fighting in the after life. We will have a QB again

  32. It all depends on what the QB room looks like the day before the draft…

    I’m open to both options
