  1. Mervis doesn’t have the same splits Vs lefties though (in the minors). It was his biggest downfall. On top of that, Busch can play multiple positions which Mervis cannot.

Unfortunately this might be the end of the road for Mervis.

  2. The bottom is Mervis. Because the Cubs basically wanted to hit 100 PAs to convince themselves they’d given him a real shot or whatever

  3. I don’t understand why everyone in this sub is losing their shit saying this guy is the first baseman of the future. He’s 26. He’s probably reaching his playing peak in about a year or two, which means he’s probably close to his peak right now. He looked like Matt Mervis did last year and he’s a year older than Mervis.

  4. To be fair, conclusions can’t be drawn from either stat line. Give them each a second chance and let both have 200PAs.

  5. Giving up Ferris is a mistake. 2nd rnd pick 6ft4 lefty who throws hard.

And traded to LAD? Who needs contact effective SP to replenish their system is a joke. Come on Jed. Act like a big market team. Making trades to save $ is sooo Cubs

  6. Ones a top 50 prospect and the other isn’t close. Stop trying to convince yourself they’re the same.

  7. this is such a brain dead comparison. nobody should be comparing under 100 PAs for any kind of logical comparison.

  8. The Mervis support is crazy. He is not good. The front office is making that very clear. Keep reading MILB stats only though

  9. He is some young guy with potential. Like PCA. Neither may ever end up hitting MLB pitching. Both might turn out to be great.

Mervis might end up being DJ LeMahieu without the glove. Or Busch’s glove improves and he is LeMahieu.

We gave up on LeMahieu right away. Or at least that trade was pretty. Maybe LeMahieu is wrong comparison. Was just thinking some infielder the cubs gave up on who could hit. I don’t think I realized he was such a good defender.

  10. And here is 2011 Rizzo
