I hope it’s Hildeby, I don’t think Sammy is in the best position to have a good result
Is he saying that he got injured?
Either they don’t want the negative PR that will go around all day if they say their starting Sammy an day in advance
or
it’s Hildeby but he’s technically not recalled yet / or want to get people’s hopes up and put pressure on him
This is how I learned we have a back to back this weekend
I feel like its Sammy but they don’t want media talking about it or to him.
No point in being coy, I think we all know who’s starting, Keefe.
I get it if they opt to go with Samsonov tomorrow, but it would also be risky to put a mentally fragile goalie up against a strong offensive team for his first game back after over a week away
I honestly think it will be Sammy starting tomorrow

I fully read that as

It’s gonna be Sammy
Hildeby is definitely playing.
They sent him down to get some reps in for an actual game so he’ll be all warmed up and ready for Sunday.
I think it’s Sammy, and it seems that Sheldon doesn’t want to say that to maybe avoid a bunch of media noise in the lead up to the game? Considering Sammy’s issues have been mental.
It’s just to try and protect Sammy/himself from criticism leading up to the game tomorrow. He’s starting Sammy tomorrow. These stupid transparent mind games only work if they’re not transparent and you never know what a coach will do. Keefe is the most predictable guy in hockey, next to Dubas.
And there is something beautiful about history. It always repeats itself and that’s why the saying exists “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” And make no mistake we’re going to repeat it.

We better fucking win tonight because we’re definitely losing tomorrow.
And 0-2 while Detroit goes 2-0 is the most Leaf thing possible because Keefe decided to play checkers with goalie starts instead of chess. The Detroit game is actually important to our season and this idiot is starting a broken goalie against a division rival we will be competing to make the playoffs against all season.
Seriously, look at the standings right now. It can become panic time around here real quick over the next 72 hours.

Part of me is thinking they sent Hildeby down to get a start for the marlies so he has some recent game action and so he’s fresh for Sunday. Either way outta my hands and not my job GLG!!!!

I’ve been saying for a while that Sunday’s game seems perfect for Hildeby. If Sheldon puts Sammy in, he should be fired. A week hanging out with the Marlies isn’t going to be what fixes his game. He should have stayed down until after the all-star break and played some games and got some “easy” wins. I’m hoping that’s the plan and they didn’t want to put him in net during a Marlies losing streak.

Based on Keefes comments the other day where he said the Samsonov callup was more about Hildeby, I’d expect Hildeby to start Sunday. He literally said it’s good to have Samsonov be around our team “for a bit here”, it doesn’t sound permanent
