  1. Yea he was the OC of the guy you just fired. A lot of what you did was vrabel program. So the fit isn’t great.

  2. I think I’ve seen a post now for every coaching candidate and dogshit qb saying they’d “be a good fit” for the team.

  3. I see a lot of posts in this thread getting downvoted because they’re pointing out the mistake of going after another person from the Titans coaching staff. Like it or not, I do think that plays a big part in this. I ASSUME Vrabel and Arthur Smith continue to have some sort of relationship. So even if the Falcons are interested in Vrabel, there is always the possibility that Vrabel isn’t interested in the Falcons.

My personal feelings on hiring Vrabel is that I like him as a coach, but I’m also not enthusiastic about the idea of going after him. He had a lot of success and did a great job of turning the team around at first. But these last few years have been pretty unimpressive. I’m curious to know how much of that was QB issues, aging Henry, poor coaching, or a little of everything. Either way the fact that the Titans have been underwhelming just leaves me pretty meh about him overall.

  4. We just fired a failed Vrabel apostle. Doesn’t make sense to go that route again and expect different results.

  5. Why take a recently fired coach? Just means they sucked enough that their last team felt they had to move on. I’d rather get a talented OC or DC from a good team or find a HC from a situation where they didn’t just lose their job for performance issues.

  6. I don’t think they’re going after Vrabel after the whole Arthur Smith experience

  7. Why should we want Vrabel?
Like seriously what makes him a head and shoulders better candidate. Like I SERIOUSLY don’t understand, please explain. I truly think this sub is desperate.

  8. Nah I don’t want a defensive HC again.

Plus, he’ll be AS 2.0, trying to find a run game and game manager QB to win in 2024.

Not gonna happen, as it never did for his teams when they made the playoffs.

  9. Titan fan here

Vrabel is a great leader of men and great personality which made it exciting and entertaining watching him coach my team.

The biggest reason he was let go was due to his own hires and stubbornness. He continued to hire guys he had worked with before, guys who already worked for the Titans (in house) or someone who coached his son’s college team. When those guys did horrible he would refuse to fire them. It’s admirable but in a business stand point a complete liability.

The other reason which still sort of falls in line with the first is he refused to change anything. GM and Owner wanted to move to a more modern NFL play style and he refused to do so while continuing to pound the rock even when it did not work.

Overall he was good at playing the game like a chess match. Taking clock away and always allowing the game to come to him. However isn’t a good play caller on offense or (surprisingly) defense. When he was coach and DC our defense was not good other than the redzone. Same issue when he was Texans DC they were terrible.

One can argue the lack of supporting talent on his rosters and that’s a very valid point. The issue with that though is even with the best talent the play calls and decision making still would have converted into losses. Which is the same issue you guys had to deal with in Art.

Also he continued to ask for more and more power. Essentially wanted to be the HC and GM which can be a dangerous play.
