  1. great reminder not to overreact to a good or bad month of play. Too many baseball fans have football fan mentality where they think game-to-game consistency is an actual, achievable end. It’s just not.

29 teams had at least one month of winning baseball and 27 teams had at least one month of losing baseball. This idea that the team is “mentally broken” or “weak” or “mailing it in” when it has a down month only works if you think the same is true of basically every team in the sport.

  2. Atlanta Braves

October: 1-4 (.200); Season Record Impact: Eliminated from Postseason (again) by Phillies in 4 games.

Our Braves had the best regular season record in MLB, the most prolific offense in baseball since the ‘27 Yankees, the first 40/70 (41/73) player in baseball history, tied for most team HRs in baseball history and then averaged 2 R/G (8/4) compared to 5.8 R/G (947/162) in the regular season.

But…it’s all practice until the postseason; and the Braves didn’t come close to their regular season selves in the postseason.

Looking forward to the ‘24 season and another World Series Championship!
